Over 95% of good writers and directors reach an age eventually where they just can’t produce anything of artistic merit anymore. It’s okay, happens to the best of them. They just need friends around them to realize and help the poor writers and directors retire before they shit on their own legacy too hard.

David Chase always had some fucked up ideas and retarded ideas he wanted to put in the show but he had meaningful pushback from the other writers, HBO, Gandolfini and the other actors.

HBO gave him a blank check and yes men this time around. He was this close to making Uncle Junior a pedophile who abused Janice in MSON.

Chase was giving the finger to HBO on their dime for not letting him make his nigger riots movie unless he put a Sopranos wrapping on it.

They did it with this and Deadwood and even X-Files back in the day with that limp movie.
