NOOOOOO u can't discuss NuTrek! It's for trannies! Only Old Trek is acceptable! Old Trek is utterly beyond reproach! It is in no way campy and goofy! TNG was good before Riker grew the beard! Janeway didn't violate the Prime Directive repeatedly! TOS wasn't just Wagon Train in space! How dare uuuuuuuu!

Voyager got rid of Kes just because her breasts weren't large enough, and replaced her with Seven Of Nine, a stacked sturmwaifu in a bondage outfit. Talk about blatant pandering. Then they did it again with T'Pol in Enterprise. How anyone could respect the show, or the franchise, after that is beyond me.

Gene Coon, one of the primary writers of TOS, used to be a writer on Wagon Train. To be fair, the show also had a heaping dose of Outer Limits.

And then there was...whatever the hell this was. Enterprise started right off pandering to the male gaze.

Gene Roddenberry totally didn't leave his wife for the Nurse Chapel actress. The executives also didn't harass Grace Lee Whitney into alcoholism. Gates McFadden and Denise Crosby so didn't leave the show over sexual harassment from those same executives. Everyone involved in producing that show was a SAINT!

Ha...I knew this thread was just one seething samefag. No wonder he got all pissed off that I started posting in it–because it was literally his thread. It was already obvious he spends a lot of time by himself–that goes for on public forums, too. I'd feel sorry for him, if he wasn't such an asshole.

You are not wrong.

However.

I will add that kes wasnt exactly a great character. She was literally a child and the actress did a good job playing that role. Perhaps too much.
She was kind of unlikeable for me. She came off as annoying and naive.
Again, that was her character. So thats not the actresses fault.

Seven, yes. A really attractive woman in a tight suit sex symbol. But. She actually had a lot of character that slowly evolves. She was smart and powerful. They didnt have to dress her the way they did.

Both characters spend a lot of time interacting with the doctor.
Kes didnt seem to make much impact on him. She was just kinda there.
Seven and the doctor form a real friendship that both characters needed. It starts subtle but you can see they care for each other.

Both were great actresses.
But the character of kes was not designed to last. Seven was.

Maybe it was the writing team. Maybe it was the wardrobe department. Maybe its my own personal opinion.

Kes just isnt as good a character as seven.
The story for seven was much better written.
The emotional growth of each character compared, seven does it better. Kes was stunted. Kes was written to lack the maturity needed to be likeable.

TL:DR 7 of 9 got dat ass.

You should. It's a great show. Start with the color seasons if b&w is too much for you.
