the 2 main sketches (Daddy Dom & The football one) went on too long. The shorter sketches just lacked any depth or humor, the fishtank ads do a better job. I can imagine if they had the same pacing on World Peace as they did now then Season 1 would be like 20 episodes.

People say World Peace's success was all down to Andrew Ruse but it's hard to know, maybe Sam & Andrew were just able to utilise Adult Swim's production budget, equiptment & staff better than they can do on their own.

Maybe because it's so much more work for them now they're doing it on their own to build & run a whole set and hire the actors for it that it'd feel like a waste if a sketch was only a couple minutes long, whereas I imagine with Adult Swim they were probably only directly involved with the art direction and not so much the labor of producing it.

But that's just playing devil's advocate, the production quality is as good as Adult Swim's but i'd argue there's zero edge to it now, same critisism you see with a lot of modern stuff now. It reminds me of the Off The Air stuff, high production quality and still alternative comedy but way too clean & polished yet still somewhat amateurish.
