Sam and Jet like to tout a YOLO philosophy without nuance - you only have one life, you were only put here for a short time, it is your responsibility to do what's best for you at all times. This degrades into a self-serving ethics however, which is exemplified by both Sam and Jet refusing to openly acknowledge their questionable pasts, burning bridges, pitting themselves against an increasing roster of enemies that they must defeat at all costs.
