>How did Lois not see past a pair of glasses and realise that Clark Kent and Superman are one and the same? "It comes up again later in the movie and it’s explained. She says it. We mention it," Gunn confirmed. "And it’s a one-off and people chuckle, but there’s stuff later in the movie about the glasses that are canon. That’s canon in the comics."
>One explanation from the comics saw readers learn that Superman was using "super-hypnotism" to change people's perception of him while he was wearing the glasses as Clark. "Something like that! I only know it from [DC Comics writer] Tom King," Gunn noted. "The first time we met was at Peter Safran’s house. We had this sort of writers group come in. One of those people was Tom King, and he was the most helpful. I’m like, 'I just don’t know how to fucking deal with the glasses thing, because it bothers the fuck out of me.'"
>"All that little stuff that people are like, 'It’s a fantasy, just let it go.' I’m like, 'No, I have to explain everything.' Everything for me has to come from a place where I believe it, as outlandish as it is," he continued. "With Rocket, I could not just make it a talking raccoon. It had to have a real foundation for where he came from and how he came to be. And I needed to believe that."

Fucking hell.
>>211703831 (OP)Gunn always says how much Morrison's work inspired his Superman but the actual movie seems opposite of what Morrison believes.
>>211704500This is why comics are Satanic. They advocate sorcery.
>>211704500He only talked about All-Star Superman because that's an evergreen book (it's always selling well) and it is THE book that is recommended to every casual fan.
Lets forget that Grant Morrison has been trying to get into Hollywood and gave pitches to WB before, all of them ignored. You'd think Gunn would call Morrison to come and help with the script, but nah.
Instead we're getting a ton of movies and shows based on Tom King's shitty comics and King helping with the screenplay for all of these things.
>>211703831 (OP)>And it’s a one-off and people chuckleis that... a demand? a desperate hope? a cry for attention? a plea for help? i don't usually line jokes up to tell people in my head thinking, "okay, then after that they'll laugh - haha - and then i'll say..."
>>211704500it's like Snyder only looking at the drawings from The Dark Knight Returns
>>211705286At least Snyder was honest about his inspirations being mostly John Byrne, Dan Jurgens, and Alex Ross.
>>211704500has a single person in the history of the universe ever asked "how does superman fly"
>>211705521Yes. And the answer is tactile telekinesis.
wait until you hear about how his costume doesn't get damaged
Grants Morrison’s comments on Man of Steel
>I kinda liked it and kinda didn't, to be honest. I feel bad because I like (director) Zack Snyder and (writer) David Goyer, and (star) Henry Cavill was really good. But it felt like one of those ones where it's like, "Bring on the second movie now that you've done this," and I don't need to see that as someone who knows all I know about Superman. For me, it was a bit "seen it before," no matter how they tried to make it a little bit different. I'm more looking forward to the Dark Knight version of Superman, the next one, where hopefully it will have Lex Luthor and be some fantastic second act.
>It's a credible Superman for now. But I'm not sure about the killing thing. I don't want to sound like some fuddy-duddy Silver Age apologist but I've noticed a lot recently of people saying Batman should kill the Joker and, yeah, Superman should kill, he should make the tough moral decisions we all have to make every day. I don't know about you, but the last moral decision I made didn't have anything to do with killing people. And I don't think many of us ever have to make the decision whether or not to kill. In fact, the more you think about it, unless you're in one of the Armed Forces, killing is illegal and immoral. Why would we want our superheroes to do that?
>There is a certain demand for it, but I just keep wondering why people insist that this is the sort of thing we'd all do if we were in Superman's place and had to make the tough decision and we'd kill Zod. Would we? Very few of us have ever killed anything. What is this weird bloodlust in watching our superheroes kill the villains?

how are they gonna explain this one?
>>211704500That's a garbage quote, Morrison. There's no need to explain why the crab sings because that movie simply presents a world where all sea creatures talk to each other and therefore obviously can sing. "Nobody pumps the tires" is wrong, somebody obviously does but it's just not important enough to show, the audience will automatically assume that someone is doing it off screen. That's like asking if Batman drinks water, you don't need to see him doing it to know that he does.
Why Superman has superpowers is a much more important question that needs answering, but the simple explanation that his alien physiology is charged by yellow sunlight is sufficient, there's no need to dwell on it further as the audience's suspension of disbelief will take care of the rest. Likewise, the secret identity only needs the explanation that Superman is a good enough actor to convincingly behave as two different people, combined with the fact that most people don't suspect Superman of having a secret identity because he doesn't wear a mask. That should be enough but if you really need more you can have a scene where Superman and Clark are seen together in public thanks to a shapeshifter or an illusionist or a robot. All have been used many times.
Amazing how Christopher Reeve managed to pull off the glasses thing and no other actor has been able to
>>211708394I'm glad, because Clark is not supposed to be an idiot
>>211705521There's a bunch of people on in this board who are really into "hard science fucking" and do unironically ask dumb questions like that.
>>211707250>somebody obviously does No. The tires pump themselves.
>>211708752wrong. its me. I pump them.
>>211708394I think the problem is the face, Christopher Reeves was just too perfect and for late 70s bodybuilding he actually tried his best to be built and was 6’4, this cornswet guys face is just too bloated or something and for whatever reason the costume designers went with curly poofy hair for his secret identity, I’ll get a (you) disagreeing with me but Cavill was too chiseled and balding but then again we never actually got to see him be a Superman with Snyders tone and setting so maybe he could pull off a nice guy act but I wouldn’t know
>>211708752>>211707250Harold Allnut. Check it up.
>>211703831 (OP)That's a jew, jews always know how to hide things from goys and pretend they are his allies.
>>211707250Batman actually had a mechanic who hung out in his Bat Cave at one point.
