Awful episode, the only one i didn't like so far, Adam sucked on it, wouldn't stop yelling over the bald fag and in the most annoying ways. Whatever he was trying this episode did not work. Bad guest too, Fantano is extremely uninteresting. I hope they get Woody, i've even left a comment saying they could probably get him if they really tried.

it was very well considered in the 80s because it was based on an IMPORTANT NOVEL, and Rumble Fish was the pretentious arty flick. Then they swept places in the 2000s.

I guess it's back to be a classic now, since they recently made a gay musical out of it

Are the 70s the worst era of cinema? After watching The French Connection, I think so. It was a really nasty and brutal time, so many films seemed to have been made exclusively as wish fulfillment for sick men who couldn’t do what they wanted during the Hayes code. So much of that era, especially in the thriller genre seem to love that proto-incel. Men angry at the world who want to see it burn because of their own social defects. Movies like Taxi Driver and The French Connection are in a nutshell what’s wrong with that group of men. So many revered films of the time are extremely boring and pretentious. Chinatown, The Exorcist, Mean Streets, Sorcerer, The Conversation… I can go on and on. They all celebrate and revel in depravity. When somebody tells me their favorite film is Taxi Driver, or really most of the early β€œnew Hollywood movement”, I’m genuinely put off.

You thought it was decent, but overrated. You can see the beautiful shots and scenery but find it hard to relate to the characters emotionally. Overall, you give it a 7/10 all things considered... decent, but not life changing at all. You will now see a Tarkovsky movie to follow your arthouse travels, maybe Stalker.

Fairly close. I thought it was very good but still slightly overrated. I don't think they fully demonstrated the shifts in Travis' mental state, which made the latter part of the movie something of a small bait-and-switch. I also think the soundtrack was too heavy-handed with the acoustic guitar. It worked well at the start but grew labored.
>hard to relate to the characters emotionally
Only Walt. They probably could have better insinuated his emotional dynamics without expending too much extra time. In any case it'll take a second viewing to conclude a proper broad opinion of the film.
>You will now see a Tarkovsky movie to follow your arthouse travels, maybe Stalker.
Afraid not. The itinerary is The Snows of Kilimanjaro -> Fallen Angels -> maybe a Shanghai Noon rewatch.

No, not really, some films are actually shit and I know they're gonna be shit before I even start them, like Vase de noces, so with those films everything is a win: if I like them, I found an underrated gem; if I hate them, I already experienced them (I value experiences and knowledge). But with WKW or Tarkovsky is different, because everyone seemingly likes them and I want to understand why they like them, but can't. It also makes me sad to not be able to share my obscure taste with the normies while they can relate to liking WKW.
