>>211732355It's funny that Frankenstein 1994 is such a forgotten film. Even got a pinball machine so I think they expected it to be a massive hit.
>>211732422I've heard mixed things about it.
>>211732553finally watched it last year after 30 years of postponing. it was both better and worse than i expected
>>211732553It's alright. I liked that the ending is faithful to the book.
>>211732720>>211732767I want to get more into Frankenstein movies so I'll watch it at some point.
Best movies you've watched recently? Doesn't have to be a new release, just what you've been watching.

>>211732988I watched Night Flier based on a rec here, and if you like comfy 90s tv horror then it's perfect.
>>211732988one I just rewatched was The Believers. Absolute kino. I did Angel Heart and The Ninth Gate a few months ago and watching The Believers really scratched that itch.
>>211733039nta but I will check this out, loved The Ninth Gate.
Also actually if you want a detective film Night Fliers isn't bad. Not a detective but a photo journalist.

Never heard of it before, but I'm going checking it out tonight
>>211732191 (OP)>CTRL+F "Sinners">0 mentions in last threadUm, fellow gentlemen? It was Juneteenth yesterday. I hope y'all watched Sinners.
It almost feels bad to talk about it in /hor/ since it's not only a mere "horror" but a straight up GENRE DEFYING masterpiece.
It educates viewers on the innumerable contributions of Black folx and Black culture to America (American culture is Black culture, and Black culture is American culture).
Besides that, it also explains how the Asian-American culture s inherently allied with Black culture even though they were allowed to interact with white folx too.
But it's not like it portrays all white people as one dimensional villains. The Klansmen were evil sure, but the Irish guy was evil and cool, because we all know that Irish people were also oppressed but not as much as Black folx.
And through the character of Mary, it also explains the suffering of mixed/white-passing Black people, who benefit from whiteness, but as punishment she gets turned into a vampire too. When she says "We gon kill all of you", it's a reference to how whiteness kills everyone.
And on top of all that, it is the best vampire movie in the current millennium. Watch it and be a better person!
>>211735091I haven't seen the movie in years but the book this is based on is great. I read it as a kid and it scared the fuck out of me.

>>211735304It's basically "Family estrangement the movie".

>>211736602I was just talking about Messiah of Evil the other day, that's a relatively obscure one I'd recommend
This was a fun streaming flick. Kinda creepypasta-ish about a demonic old kid's show. It's also a black horror movie that has nothing to do with wypipo scary.

The ones I do like tend to be pretty far in either direction of barely horror like Heathers or barely comedic like Dellamorte Dellamore. Evil Dead series is one of the few that I think did a good job blending both evenly because of how unambiguous of a force of evil and mean spirited deadites are which ends up serving as a foil for Ashโs gags but it still works in the non-Ash movies where you have normal people getting destroyed by unrelenting hateful demons.

>>211743556Hereditary is a great horror movie that succeeds in what it sets out to do which is not to satisfy your junkie quota for jump scares every 10 minutes. It successfully maintains a tense and oppressive atmosphere throughout, building up to the few but effective frights that it does have and it isnโt anything new for the genre. Iโm sorry dumbasses like you take that as being pretentious because you just view this genre as junk entertainment made solely for your attention deficit and dopamine addled brain to consume but if everyone thought like you did then Hereditary wouldnโt be considered a horror film everywhere including by its own director/writer.
The drama is there to enhance the horror, not the other way around, and If you canโt see that well everyoneโs tastes are different and I can totally respect that, it has nothing to do with intellect. Itโs just that it always has to devolve into attempts at gatekeeping with you arrogant spergs because you can't accept that not everyone shares your tastes and opinions. It's that self-absorbed attitude, lack of empathy and pseudo-intellectualism that makes you people so insufferable. You have become the snobs yourselves and you don't even see it.
From the way you're "criticizing" the movie though just makes me think it actually was too smart for you which triggers you. Imagine unironically thinking Hereditary was trying to be "deep". Fucking idiot. You can't even spell or use English properly.
>>211744511If I told you my favorite horror movie is ED2 would you let me be a part of your snobbish anti-elitist circle jerk?
>>211742097Lake Mungo is great though, haven't seen Hereditary.
Deciding to watch movies on the whims of 4chan shitposters is a terrible idea
>>211753591>not to satisfy your junkie quota for jump scares every 10 minutes.I'm nta but Hereditary has exactly as cheap setups though. Aster just sticks a scary face in the background of scenes like it's 2005 and people are drawing red circles on ghost pictures. Only difference is it doesn't jump out. And the ending is just as screechingly loud and frantic horror scenes as anything else. That's hardly Kairo.
>The drama is there to enhance the horrorI'm nta but I just don't think it works. The characters are annoying and you're just sitting there watching them crying about their miserable lives, as if watching a bunch of nihilistic suffering magically inbue the film with a dark quality. I think it's just empty and the emperor has no clothes, just my own thoughts.

>>211772364both versions of Maniac
>>211742735>Five Deadly Venoms Centipede style FTW.
I wish I could pull off toad style in real life tho too.
>>211772035i already have picrel. i might wait for a clothed NECA to fit with my other ones

Nell Tiger Free, star of the First Omen
>>211772059Is that mf Tiny Tim??
โฆKino if true.
>>211772496So many black people in the opening scene in the tower. And the scene right after is in a university with a black professor teaching math. okay..
>>211772826So.. the main characters are muttoids? I guess I will be only watching this for death scenes. I swear the first two films actually had a decent plot.

>>211772619I don't own any but have one cubby hole space free, was thinking of doing a Howling diorama because the recent one looks great. Also favourite werewolf design.
>>211772891Yeah the film is definitely lacking soul like the first 2 films.
Good 70s horror with nice Tom Savini make-up work
>>211772764Time for another vacation already, huh? :)
>>211773051**unlike the first 2 films
Okay, so Final Destination Bloodlines is fine after the opening. Havent seen a black since. Okay, I will keep watching.
>>211772893yeah the long creepy fingers are cool
>>211773247appreciate the update
>>211773385Np. All the blacks really ruined the flow of the opening.
>>211773519I dont mind, at least hes talking about movies and not just actresses.
>>211773727ignore pissman
>>211773577Every post you tagged was movie related.
>>211770559I just watched this a couple nights ago. Still coming to grips with it. Kill List.
So..lawnmower death scene build up was pretty good.
>>211773052You owe me, Doc! You owe me this!
Loved this movie as a kid. The scene where he runs down the guy in the drive in and gets him caught under the car is disturbing.
Okay FF: Bloodlines is good do far. Wow. They really used the opening to suck in the black ticket sales huh.
>>211774307get off your phone and watch the movie faggot
>>211733282The part where the ugly girlfriend has been infected and is going crazy and she portrays this by grabbing her friend on the thighs and squeezing. Damn that shit was intense, I really thought she was an insane zombie. This movie was 89 minutes and it felt like two and a half hours. Just awful.
>>211774437Just got past the garbage truck death scene. I really dont like people that look like that. Lets just sayโฆlow skilled jobs.
>>211774480Opinion disregarded. Mads kinda ended the year with a bang. I think 2024 horror ended on a high note.
>>211774588People that do those jobs always have a this low energy to them.
Okay so the movie is pretty good. The opening just left a really bad taste in my mouth.
>>211774480Yeah I thought it was boring. Had glimpses of being interesting but past the gimmick I thought there was nothing there.
>>211774770Okay. Watch more movies.
>>211774788I watched 17 that came out last year cunt and MadS is not in the top 10. I dislike anaemic european films in general.
lmfao they made the lil black kid the Candyman actor guy. lol. They did this just to shove more blacks in.
Did Tony Todd have a disease?

I just finished Final Destination Bloodlines. It was a fun movie.
>>211775833Thanks for the update.
>>211772498I did not care for Maniac (2012).
>>211776079that CGI blood... madone..
>>211771288>this is the case for 99% of horror movies made since foreverftfy
I watched Bride of Reanimator, it was pretty great about as good as the first one actually
>>211776483I've been meaning to watch the Re-Animator sequels for a long time. At this point, I might just save them for October
>>211776569Dont like the series. Only seen the first.
I think this fits in the horror genre of things
I saw the show From, I really liked it with all the mystery and drama, as well as the creatures in it. Anyone else watched it? Kind of shit I have to wait next year for the next season
>>211776098>>211776098ok the CGI blood I'll give you but in general I loved it particularly because of the ultimate maniac victory.
>>211777027The show with the African on the poster?
>>211777159Hm. Where are you from?
>>211777225Iโm from Reddit
Is 28 years later any good? I'm hesitant to watch it because aaron whats his name is in it, and he is a jew.
>>211777225Just tell me what you think of the show and stuff that happened in it, who is the yellow nibba? Where HE from??
>>211777305The cinematography and direction is really impressive and unique.
But it's a retarded comic book adaption feeling film. Very divisive.
>>211777357Go back to r.eddit
>>211777409Oh ffs, let him stay, this place is like /horror anyways.
>>211777357What does /horror think?
>>211777531We enjoyed it, I want to know what you guys think.
Fine donโt tell me itโs not like I want to talk about it with you guys anyway
I dropped From when I realized they were just making shit up on the fly just like Lost
>>211778082This is basically a film general, less tv watchers. Also best to ignore the retarded troll replying to you.
>>211778096I never trust any tv show that hasn't already come to an end. Think about it, you're a producer, and want to make money. The show is doing numbers on season 2 and the writers think it should end there on a high. What do you do? You force them to pump out a season 3, 4, 5, 6, as many as you can before the numbers drop and then you take the show out back and shoot it in the head with a shitty finale.
>>211778096b-but its cool! I thought it was like purgatory too, but the fact that the mom can leave (and come back again lol) kind of shoes it isnt (or maybe it is?). It also has a lot of creepy moments like the last episode of season. Also I fucking hate Elgin, thirsty ass fucking nigger am glad Boyd hammered his hand and Sara gouged his eye out
>>211778115I only watch good horror shows. This is horror general, it includes shows and movies.
>>211778222Of course, was just alluding to the lack of replies.
>>211778164I know it's unrealistic but I would like it if someone in hollywood et al. had integrity. That would be nice.
>>211775772Haven't seen this one but that's a great tagline. Will check it out.
>>211778082How are you able to watch entire seasons of a show with a black as a main character?
>>211778542>Will check it out.Good.... good....
Watched House (1977) and Suicide Club, great fucking movies i really loved them
any recs on more pre-2000 jap kino?
>>211778793Both excellent films, you are an anon who is connected to yourself I can tell.
If you liked Suicide Club, there's a sequel called Noriko's Dinner Table that's also good. It's quite long and more of a drama, but definitely worth a watch if you find the patience.
Cute Devil (1982) is by the director of House and I also really liked that, not as surreal but similar dreamy vibe.
Evil Dead Trap is also worth a watch.
The big j-horrors are Ju-On the Grudge, Ringu and Kairo though.
