It's funny that Frankenstein 1994 is such a forgotten film. Even got a pinball machine so I think they expected it to be a massive hit.

Um, fellow gentlemen? It was Juneteenth yesterday. I hope y'all watched Sinners.

It almost feels bad to talk about it in /hor/ since it's not only a mere "horror" but a straight up GENRE DEFYING masterpiece.

It educates viewers on the innumerable contributions of Black folx and Black culture to America (American culture is Black culture, and Black culture is American culture).
Besides that, it also explains how the Asian-American culture s inherently allied with Black culture even though they were allowed to interact with white folx too.
But it's not like it portrays all white people as one dimensional villains. The Klansmen were evil sure, but the Irish guy was evil and cool, because we all know that Irish people were also oppressed but not as much as Black folx.
And through the character of Mary, it also explains the suffering of mixed/white-passing Black people, who benefit from whiteness, but as punishment she gets turned into a vampire too. When she says "We gon kill all of you", it's a reference to how whiteness kills everyone.

And on top of all that, it is the best vampire movie in the current millennium. Watch it and be a better person!

i dont dog low budget films, or worship AAA effort/budget films
i just enjoy what is presented before me if its worthy of my time
that movie was not worth my time.
the fact your sperg ass wants to assume facts youll never be able to confirm, you are free to do so; the fact is i hold the opjnions in these general in high regard when it comes to "hey check out this movie for x reasons" and that movie failed to deliver so terribly it left a bad taste in my mouth for years at this point.

It didn’t make me mad but it immediately left my mind a day after I saw it which depending on your perspective might be worse than an outright bad movie.

It also doesn’t really do much with the concept. Just like yep here’s some stuff that happened in the same setting like 30 years before the first one. Definitely the weakest of the 3 movies. If it didn’t have the title and you changed the setting a little it could easily just be edited down to a mediocre segment in an anthology movie.

This was well made technically but I think I just don’t like most horror comedy even when it’s well made. The ones I do like tend to be pretty far in either direction of barely horror like Heathers or barely comedic like Dellamorte Dellamore. Evil Dead series is one of the few that I think did a good job blending both evenly because of how unambiguous of a force of evil and mean spirited deadites are which ends up serving as a foil for Ash’s gags but it still works in the non-Ash movies where you have normal people getting destroyed by unrelenting hateful demons.

Hereditary is a great horror movie that succeeds in what it sets out to do which is not to satisfy your junkie quota for jump scares every 10 minutes. It successfully maintains a tense and oppressive atmosphere throughout, building up to the few but effective frights that it does have and it isn’t anything new for the genre. I’m sorry dumbasses like you take that as being pretentious because you just view this genre as junk entertainment made solely for your attention deficit and dopamine addled brain to consume but if everyone thought like you did then Hereditary wouldn’t be considered a horror film everywhere including by its own director/writer.

The drama is there to enhance the horror, not the other way around, and If you can’t see that well everyone’s tastes are different and I can totally respect that, it has nothing to do with intellect. It’s just that it always has to devolve into attempts at gatekeeping with you arrogant spergs because you can't accept that not everyone shares your tastes and opinions. It's that self-absorbed attitude, lack of empathy and pseudo-intellectualism that makes you people so insufferable. You have become the snobs yourselves and you don't even see it.

From the way you're "criticizing" the movie though just makes me think it actually was too smart for you which triggers you. Imagine unironically thinking Hereditary was trying to be "deep". Fucking idiot. You can't even spell or use English properly.

>not to satisfy your junkie quota for jump scares every 10 minutes.
I'm nta but Hereditary has exactly as cheap setups though. Aster just sticks a scary face in the background of scenes like it's 2005 and people are drawing red circles on ghost pictures. Only difference is it doesn't jump out. And the ending is just as screechingly loud and frantic horror scenes as anything else. That's hardly Kairo.
>The drama is there to enhance the horror
I'm nta but I just don't think it works. The characters are annoying and you're just sitting there watching them crying about their miserable lives, as if watching a bunch of nihilistic suffering magically inbue the film with a dark quality. I think it's just empty and the emperor has no clothes, just my own thoughts.

The cinematography and direction is really impressive and unique.
But it's a retarded comic book adaption feeling film. Very divisive.

I never trust any tv show that hasn't already come to an end. Think about it, you're a producer, and want to make money. The show is doing numbers on season 2 and the writers think it should end there on a high. What do you do? You force them to pump out a season 3, 4, 5, 6, as many as you can before the numbers drop and then you take the show out back and shoot it in the head with a shitty finale.

b-but its cool! I thought it was like purgatory too, but the fact that the mom can leave (and come back again lol) kind of shoes it isnt (or maybe it is?). It also has a lot of creepy moments like the last episode of season. Also I fucking hate Elgin, thirsty ass fucking nigger am glad Boyd hammered his hand and Sara gouged his eye out

Both excellent films, you are an anon who is connected to yourself I can tell.
If you liked Suicide Club, there's a sequel called Noriko's Dinner Table that's also good. It's quite long and more of a drama, but definitely worth a watch if you find the patience.
Cute Devil (1982) is by the director of House and I also really liked that, not as surreal but similar dreamy vibe.
Evil Dead Trap is also worth a watch.
The big j-horrors are Ju-On the Grudge, Ringu and Kairo though.
