Why did they just kill the mom immediately after finding out she had cancer? She wasn't on death's doorstep. They could have gone back to the village and had a few more months or maybe even years together. The resources weren't so dire that feeding a dying woman a bit longer would have destroyed the village.

I just got back home after watching it in the theater and I genuinely loved it but everything people are saying about the ending is true

It feels like it's out of a completely different movie, it doesn't fit but it doesn't ruin the film either.

The entire movie has a different feel than the originals, definitely more depth into the human side and psyche of survivors.

7/10, I'll probably watch it again when it comes to streaming

Like I understand it was a big tone shift. But it lasted 2 minutes tops. I mean do people expect people let alone kids to not develop quirks / factions of their own over nearly 3 decades? They already showed that the island had its own weird customs and I’m going to assume that the next film will dive deeper into it with Aaron Taylor.

Small review below but:

I absolutely loved the film. The introduction of the alpha was my favorite scene. Made it seem like the camera angle was just making it look big and only when we get the wide shot around do you go holy fuck. Also shout out to Alphie Williams I think he killed it as spike. There’s still some small gripes I have. Like what was up with isla saving spike from the crawler. Just a maternal instinct type of thing? And did the alpha really not break the doctor’s neck just because of a bite?

Just got back from the cinemas, and I have to agree with you. Those last two minutes were some of the gayest shit I've seen this year.
I didn't like that the movie felt disjointed and forced in some areas, but I did enjoy some of the wider shots of the country (especially that night scene as they're returning) and some of the gore and chases were quite intense.
