But that's not how it really happened is it? They found a bunch of parts of the sub some more or less intact. It was ripped open and I guess the water rushed in and crushed everyone, or one of those situations where they were pushed through a 2 inch crack in a milisecond.

It all started in the 1990's when he hired the Keldysh for an expedition to the Titanic in preparation for filming his movie, after the expedition was over he kept them on the payroll and used the Keldysh and the MIR submersibles for his movie. Some of the Titanic shots were really filmed down at the wreck using both subs. One to act as a camera platform and the other one with floodlights, to light the scenes.

Over the years he may have spent more time on the Titanic then the people who were onboard did during their voyage.

the air probably compressed the bodies with it but they remained in the same place
some speculate the rapid compression also created a lot of heat much like in a cylinder of a diesel engine, creating an explosion that most likely obliterated them before the walls had a chance to touch them

actually at that depth the pressure is so high that the hull would've collapsed at close to the speed of light, which according to Einstein's theory of relativity means that time slowed down, so the occupants actually had time to live out a whole agrarian existence and learn to play the flute before they were crushed

There are bizzarely, genetically brave people and I don't want to cope by discounting how vastly more brave some people just happen to be. But in his case I really feel like he was such an egomaniac he just thought it wouldn't happen. He had this narrative in his mind where he's going to be rewarded and worshipped for the risks he's taking, to the point that he kind of believed that's how the universe mechanically worked. If you're daring enough and deserving enough, one of the elect pioneers, you don't fail. You do risky things and get treated like you're incredible for risking death, but it won't actually happen because the universe is obligated to reward you for the "risk" by making it so there's no actual risk.

I bet it didnt implode. I bet it sank to the bottom and lost power and communications and every single passenger did the math. 40hrs to suffocation. Less humans = more time = higher chance to survive. Sooner the better too so they immediately drew straws after ganging up on the jeets.
First the air problem then the food problem then finally the toilet problem and I bet they didnt want to sniff .
