i thought Midsommar was really good, if not better. Herreditary, trouble with hereditary is that rosmarys baby did it better. saying that Hereditary is still very good too.

Hereditary was his one hit wonder. Aster's overrated reputation is mostly a product of good timing. Hereditary hit when A24 was gaining popularity around the same time as Letterboxd and Midsommar appealed to the target Letterboxd demographic (bitter women and gays). That's why people think Beau is Afraid was just a misstep and not the continued decline in the quality of his movies. Eddington looks like shit though, so that will hopefully get more people to recognize that he hasn't made anything good since Hereditary.

Stylistically this is very good, but for supposed "elevated horror" every single main character is really stupid. In one scene a guy says he's afraid of the locals, then in the same scene a local girl tells him to come with her and he just goes off to be killed offscreen.
