I guess both Blade Runner movies but I have to see them again.
Predator 2 had a strong futuristic component that mattered as much as the alien aspect but it was just decent.
I also need recs for this genre.

Predator 2 definitely. It's like some weird 2050s anarcho capitalist vibe. Tech voodoo boy gangstas performing rituals and and having straight up gunfights on the streets of la while snorting coke between bursts.

They really need to call this style of artwork "The Dipshit Sublime":

>subject only ever located in a high apartment or balcony

>surrounded by "uberkewl tech" trappings, which any normal person would just get annoyed with such bullshit and clutter in a few months

>always the upper blue/violet/pink neon, shiny skyline of the ooberkewul Le Cyberpunk cityscape, LITERALLY floating over the assured shithole that lies beneath it

>The requisite "magical haze layer" always towards the bottom is littler just shit fumes and smog, to anyone living below

>and of course, it's usually always raining and shitty outside, because the climate is fucked

Dipshits still taken with this garbage are as brainlet as it gets.

>Iso-Cubes are a place where sentenced criminals who commit non-capital crimes are assigned. Perps stay there until their sentence is completed, unable to leave. The room is similar to a single-dwelling apartment in a housing block except it is smaller, has fewer amenities, and has a secure door that only opens from the outside with a durable glass panel on the other side to maintain suicide watch as well as to remind the prisoner they are constantly being watched. Iso-cubes are found within Iso-Blocks which are analogous to prisons located in Mega City One.

I hate that they'll never just give us this film - the street-level cyberpunk film about low-level shit.
BR is too low vfx and almost entirely set in dingy rooms. 2049 has only a couple of scenes like this but is too entrenched in the ways of its predecessor.
And then you get small scenes like this and in films like Romulus. And don't get me started on Mute just being a shitty travesty
