It follows the lives of 3 friends in times of significant political and civil unrest during the 70s-80s - a law student, a rich young lady, and a gangster. It's set among many real life historical events, most famously the Gwanju Uprising/Massacre.
I could essay post all day about how great it is (Eyes Of Dawn too) but in short, it is a very "earnest" drama that greatly respects your time and intelligence. It's pure, solid story-telling with very little (if any) filler. All that plus the fast pacing make it surprisingly easy to watch despite the heavy subject matter.
