>spoilerVery nice.
>>211776913>He would see the truth that Bibi is the bestI think you're right but Liv is also cute imo. I replied to someone a week or two back who said Bibi's eyes burn with hellfire lol... she definitely looks mischievous in some pictures. My opinion could very well change after watching the two aforementioned films though.

Why can't Western cinema into suffering? Japs make such simple and spiritually pure movies, honestly portraying the tragedy of life, but when Westerners try they just become neurotic and decadent, like Winter Light or Au hasard Balthazar, and obviously the product of pseudointellectuals confusing their own nervous anxiety and its imaginings with the real suffering of life.
>>211822714It's a fundamentally different culture. Shinto, buddhism, and Edo Neo-Confucianism probably play a role in shaping the Japanese mindset. I will not elaborate.
>>211822811There's no reason why every Western movie depicting tragedy has to be motivated by either maudlin sentimentality or the performative cynicism of modern pseudointellectuals.
>>211822811To add an insight to the differences, even a simple yes/no question is the other way around. To paraphrase a Japanese history book
In the west when you're lost and looking for directions, you might ask someone:
>This is not the way to London, is it?"No" is the expected response if it's not the way to London. In Japan however
>This is not the way to Tokyo, is it?"Yes" is the respected response if it's not the way to Tokyo. It's "yes" as in "I agree with your sentiment that it isn't the way to Tokyo."
I've nooticed in Japanese films, when one person asks a Yes/No question, the response is "ee/hai", while the english subtitles say "No". That's for localization.
Pay attention when watching your eiga, you might nootice what I'm talking about.
We're all paying attention here.

>>211826662>seven brides for seven brothers was very fun and comfy even with *the implication* looming over many scenesIt's indeed fun and comfy, but I didn't ever really get that off vibe from it and I was primed to knowing what I knew about the film going in. The brothers are all rough around the edges, but it's made pretty clear that they're basically devoid of any malice or cruelty and any time anything got even remotely out of hand Milly'd put her foot down (and Adam's shown from the outset to actually like that she'll stand up for herself) and get basically no pushback and have everyone come around to see things her way. Even the whole "Sobbin' Women" thing โ as jarring as it is with the increasingly fine-grained and scrupulous attention given to consent nowadays โ was still framed as more of a harebrained kind of rescue mission.
We're all sobbin' women here.
We're all lonesome polecats here.

>>211821989I'm not. I unironically can't care about anything going in the world outside of me. I didn't even care or cry when my parents died.
Yesterday, I was watching Sam Hyde asking myself why do people care about societal drama so much. You can't change anything, so who cares. The only thing that matters to me is money. Films for these feels?
Had some good sex with the Fat girl while I was gone. We binged Bob's Burgers after and Futurama. Thanks.
I am a stout man, I am 5 ft 8, 180 lbs, I wear a suit and tie to work each day and have had 2 ex-girlfriends. I have a degree in Business, with a minor in History. I am of German, Scottish, and Italian ancestry and I live in the Midwest. My work hours are 8am-4pm, with every other Friday remote. My favorite films are Rocky 1-5, Star Wars 4-6, Predator 1 and 2, and Rambo 1-2.
>>211796899 (OP)Seven hos for seven niggaz
The name is Dingo Dingleberry, or Dingus Dinkleson, or Dick Dupont or Dickerson or Dio Dionysus or Doctor Dorito. I have many identies, some good, some bad, some happy, some sad, some glad, some mad. The truth is I am like a spy, often going incognito, often exploring the world. I am evil somedays and good the others, a liar and a truth-teller, a speaker and a reader, a breeder and a deceiver. I love my ex-girlfriend, yet she loathes me. My other one loves me, yet I loathe her. I am a many of many contradictions, both good and bad.
>>211830212>I didn't even care or cry when my parents died.Tough guy over here.
When I watch a film I absorb it like no other, see new perspectives, some of my identites love what they see, and others loathe it. For instance, I was watching Bob's Burgers with the fat girl, and part of me loved the simplicity, and other of me loathed the lack of ambition.

>>211830613>you aren't sad about shitThe word "bummed" was used, which is pretty mild. Given what this general's about and Iran's contribution to that, I don't see what your objection is.
>>211830771You're a liberal atheist
>>211830810What? Iranian cinema is continuously censored in Iran lol. Are you retarded?
While not entirely "banned" in the sense of a blanket prohibition, Abbas Kiarostami's films faced significant restrictions and censorship within Iran, often being banned or facing difficulty in getting screened. Despite his global recognition and numerous international awards, many of his films were not widely seen in his home country.
>>211830815Even if i was a liberal atheist, they can't be bummed about Iran being bombed? You make no sense.
>>211829750Persona remake

>>211830965I'm not a liberal. And you're a kike.
>>211830860Come on, mate. You know I meant the very simple and obvious "there have been lots of great Iranian films and filmmakers", and not that "Iran is institutionally and culturally a filmmaking paradise".
Making everyone under 40 from across the political spectrum unite in their hatred of jews is certainly one of the plans of all time
>>211830983What the fuck are you talking about even.

Anyway, let's not turn the thread into /pol/. Sorry.
>>211831562*made me agree

I'm a proud patriot and will fight for my country. I am proud of the Bombings of Iran as I am an American. USA USA. I will watch United 93 and American Sniper tonight, followed by Flags of Our Fathers. USA USA.
I work in an office and my position is Office-worker. I have been here for 5 years now, before that I was an Office Clerk. I went to the University of Kansas, where I studied Business and now live in Nebraska. USA USA. I am 5 ft 8, 180 lbs and am a stout man. I am now dating the fat girl, she talked me into it, and we are watching Bob's Burgers Season 3.
Was taking a few days off from /film/ for some sex with the fat girl, but decided to come back today to say "Hello." Hello. My name is Dingo Dingleberry, that is Dingo Doofus Dingleberry the First.
I am a Letterboxd Premium User, I am in a Letterboxd discord, and was posting in my mother's undies a few days ago. It was hot and I was worried my Letterboxd friends would find out. They found out about the undies, which they didn't mind and admitted to doing the same, but The Cleveland Show debacle would have been way too much for them, so I left it out.
Hey guys it's Dingo's Girlfriend, make sure you are being nice to him because I love him and will never let him go. We're watching Bob's Burgers and I'm naked.
I am a lover of dance and sex, but this wheelchair confines me. I like Carlos Saura, Leos Carax, Jacques Rivette, and Pedro Costa. These became my favourites the day Kino betrayed me. I was a salsa master, a sex haver, and a general bad ass mothafucka, until I was at Carlos Sanchez's premiere of Buttfuckers in Paradise, had a nightmare since I saw it past bed time, tossed and turnt and woke up with a stiff back. I've been in a wheelchair ever since.
>>211835952Who betrayed you?
>>211835979I was betrayed by kino, it was my brother Boocum who warned me to not watch Buttfuckers in Paradise before bedtime, but I didn't listen and had a nightmare, which made me toss and turn, squirm and worm, yelp and gulp, crash and gnash all night long. I woke up with a stiff back and have been in a wheelchair ever since.
It is true, it is I Boocum who warned him that bedtime must strictly be observed and any violation of bedtime may provoke un-enjoyable pants shitting, and nightmares. Next thing I knew, my brother was in a wheelchair, no longer able to do our two great loves. Sex and Dance, Dance and Sex, and both at once. Cha Cha Cha, and anybody who is ANYBODY was dancing and sexing in those days.
>>211836113>>211836211That's tragic. Do you advise against doing the goon sesh past bedtime?
>>211836258You have to just wait until he gets tired or banned.
>>211836258Dinko woke up again
>>211836304The truth is gooning is moving, and moving is grooving, and grooving is smooving, and smooving is bruising. Feel me? You need to groove and smoove, then bruise and lose. The choice is yours.
>>211836258dingo is like /film/'s version of /kdg/'s NTL, hope that helps
I was there the night Bookum and Boocum had their fatal demise. I was interviewing Carlos Sanchez (real name Jose Rodriguez) about his new film taking the South American cinema association by storm, when I see two stocky chaps walk up to the theater, Boocum pleading with Bookum to go back home. It was an empty house, because I knew bedtime was approaching. I stood misty-eye, mouth-agape, and completely neglected my interview with Mr. Rodriguez/Sanchez, sheer shock at the spectacle of Caraxfag (Bookum) storming into the theater and sitting down, I knew he would miss bedtime, and the rest is history and nothing good could come of this, and the rest is history.
In fact, I even have an autographed turd from Carlos Sanchez (Jose Rodriguez) and Jorge Rodriguez from the premiere of Mommy I Pissed in the Sink Again. Unfortunately, I couldn't resist and there's clear bite marks in it that will make it hard to sell if I ever am in need of money again.

Somebody at work asked me about my friends the other day, so I told them all about /film/ You guys really mean a lot to me and I hope to have a meetup one day where we kick back and watch some kinos together and talk about life and all the good stuff. I've blown off countless plans to watch the newest kino flick then immediately rush here to post about it. All I have in life is /film/ and if anything were ever to happen to it I would lose my shit. Even the thought makes me terrified and now seeing all the new kino coming out like a new Carax joint makes me tear up. I love you guys.

>>211851854> speaking of rape, Iโd like to point out to Miss Kael and these other so-called critics that rear entry does not necessarily mean sodomy, as they said in their reviews. I guess Miss Kael and her friends have anal complexes. Perfectly justified in this day and age.kek

This flick sucked. At some point it just gives up and shows an extended sequence of the characters just watching a much more interesting movie. Stuff only starts happening over an hour into the movie and by then there's only like ten minutes left.

>Lee Je Ha followed in his father's footsteps, who was considered a master and became a movie director. He received worldwide attention for his debut film and was called a genius, but he became obsessed over a possible sophomore jinx. Over the past 5 years, he has not worked on anything. Deciding to end his 5-year hiatus, he begins to work on his second film. The screenplay tells a romance story involving someone with only a limited lifetime.
>While researching the movie, Lee Je Ha meets Lee Da Eum. She is an aspiring actress and suffers from a rare, incurable disease; she doesn't know how long she has left to live, but is very social, and everyone in the hospital knows her. Lee Da Eum advises Lee Je Ha on his movie and becomes interested in the script; this becomes a turning point for her as an aspiring actress. As they work on the romance movie together, Lee Je Ha and Lee Da Eum, who have their own illnesses, form a romantic relationship.

>Yes, there is a sex scene in the movie Fruits of Passion (1981) involving Klaus Kinski, and according to his autobiography, the sex scene was not simulated. He describes filming it with a woman who was supposed to be placed in a brothel and mentions her "delicious cheese". While one scene with Isabelle Illiers was filmed but not included in the final cut, Kinski's scene, described as unsimulated, was included in the film. The film also includes other graphic sex scenes, some of which were cut from later releases.

>>211864863>What are they about?First one's a kind of coming-of-age story about two friends leaving high school and taking divergent life paths. Second's a gentle kind of slice-of-life romance about a deaf garbageman who develops an interest in surfing and his doting, faithful fiancรฉe.
>>211864863>>211865385If you want more Yakuza stuff from him, then Boiling Point (probably his most similar film to Sonatine), Violent Cop and to a lesser extent Hana-bi might be better places to go next (tho', not to give too much away, there's Yakuza stuff in Kids Return).

>>211866831I'm the original baker and will wait 'til like page 7 as was requested.
>>211866879You're lucky no one cares
I watched Mishima last night and the only piece of actual acting in the film were the fleeting several seconds of Mishima realizing the futility of his endeavor during the final speech. It was my only film with Asian actors that I saw in seven or eight years and for the above reason will stay that way for maybe another five.
Make a new thread. Page 5 is good enough. I'm frankly tired of this one.
