Uh, guys, 28 years later wasn't really that bad. It didn't even have any negroes, homos or girlbosses
>>211812940 (OP)it was a great movie. A lot of people these days are just way too cynical and regurgitate opinions they heard online.
I'm excited for part 2.
>>211812990I agreed. I mean, the action was unique for a zombie movie. Which is good at this stage and I don't get all the kvetching about the ending, because if anything it's just like a bonus scene
I agree that audiences are way too cynical now. people need to get a life

>>211812940 (OP)Still not going to watch it.
>>211812940 (OP)although seeing a trad white only village was soothing, the movie fell off hard once the dad stopped having screen time
>>211813273Movies in the '90s and 2000s were much goofier and less self-serious than they are today. People just laughed it off because they went to the movies to have fun.
>>211813367It had a bit of a tonal change but I think that was kind of the point. You're supposed to be sucked into the village culture at the start and then break away from it a little bit to see things from the doc's perspective too. Then the same at the end with the Jimmy's.
>>211813923Why am I not allowed to enjoy the film because you have a huge stick up your ass
I know people like that it is shot on Iphone or whatever, but I think it looked pretty bad. Maybe it was better in 28 days (I haven't seen it), but I didn't think it worked well here. I wasn't a fan of the hyperediting either except for maybe the 'boots' sequence.
The fights were often not gripping and unrealistic... Like soldiers with guns being unable to hold a firing line against 20-30 infected coming through a choke point.
Or how there is a horde of 10 infected running at an individual, but they can just stop, prepare a bow and arrow, shoot one, and then continue running.
However, I think that the larger issue is that it was just hard to care for the characters. People seem to like the ATJ portion of the film the most, and while the father/son bond was alright, and that portion of the movie was intense... it wasn't jaw dropping amazing either. The family drama that is the catalyst for the film is meh. The whole journey to the doctor never felt that gripping. The mother/son relationship didn't touch me at all, and I have liked plenty of mother/son type films. The morality of how ATJ vs the Doctor vs the Seville gang treat the infected infected is bleh.
The Tellytubby gang is the least of this film's problems.
>>211812940 (OP)>It didn't even have any negroes, homos or girlbossesNot gonna say this about 28 years later because I never saw it
But I have a newfound appreciation for a lot of the mediocre slop of that I scoffed at 20-30 years ago

>>211817286I dress like Adam Sandler these days
Though I think he's got about 20 or 30 years on me
>>211812940 (OP)don't make me tap the sign
>>211817286>y-you le can't wear shorts because it is le undignified! I know this is difficult for Europeans to understand but America has a lot of different biomes and most of the country gets really hot for 3-6 months every year
>homos
bad unless theyre villainous psychos
>girlbosses
milla jovovich and uma thurman proved it can be done well
>niggers
this is mostly a writing and casting issue, if you cast them right you'll get great negros like in Predator or other 80s action movies, actors like Samuel Jackson or Denzel Washington
>>211813382They weren't. You're a zoomer.
>>211814315>>211814315You're a faggot and a shill and your posts are very recognisable. Regardless of which thread they're in.
I liked everything visually, but the story was severely lacking.
>the opening really had no connection to the plot of the rest of the movie
>there was no strong motivation for the father and son to enter the mainland given the danger present
>the doctor surviving there for decades with a smoke signal on all the time made no sense
>the journey back felt nonsensical, Spike knew of the dangers and his inability to help his father
>the baby scene and soldier threatening to shoot Spike /Isla felt like an after-thought and seemed out of character for Erik who was introduced as a cold, selfish soldier but showed himself to be compassionate when faced with extreme situations
>the doctor played no role in the story or progression
>Isla's death felt like an excuse for a drug / artsy sequence
>every character introduced just ended up getting dumped in a way that wasn't satisfying or grew the story
>chav ninjas at the end, killing zombies with melee weapons to music after soldiers in full gear were dying in combat to them was bizarre, one of them connecting to the opening plot didn't feel like some unique or interesting payoff
The differently evolved zombies, chase scenes, ruins, night clips, etc were all very cool, but overall the movie just felt like a bunch of sequences of what they wanted to include with a weak overarching plot, some sequences landed and others didn't.
>>211818082>The differently evolved zombies... were very coolyea too bad the characters didn't pick up power-ups and double jump over the zombies like our favorite video games for babies, amirite?
