Nope. MoS, BvS, first Aquaman are certified capekino. Justice League is a little rough around the edges (unnecessarily so because Snyder had to squeeze in amateurish fanservice scenes) but it's still alright.

And every action I take, no matter how violent or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people. And now... I have no people. My soul, that is what you have taken from me!

>Oh, yes it has, sir. Everything's changed. Men fall from the sky, the gods hurl thunderbolts, innocents die. That's how it starts, sir. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel.

>It's somethin', innit? One minute in Kansas livin' on a pancake so we come to the mountains. All downhill from here; down to the floodplain, arm at the bottom of the world. I remember one season the water came bad. I couldn't've been twelve. Dad had out the shovels and we went at it all night. We worked 'til I think I fainted, but we managed to stop the water. We saved the farm. Your grandma baked me a cake, said I was a hero. Later that day we found out we blocked the water alright - we sent it upstream. A whole Lange farm washed away. While I ate my hero cake, their horses were drowning. I used to hear them wailing in my sleep.

It's ballsy because studio execs care about brand recognition and Batman is DC's mascot just like Spider-Man is Marvel's. Another clearer comparison would be like if Mickey was an antagonist in his own film, do you get it now?

Thing I hated about MOS is you could tell everyone involved did not like Superman and just wanted to make him more like Batman. Forcing some tragic shit like Wayneโ€™s getting killed in front of Bruce to Clark watching his dad get sucked up by a tornado. To Superman being forced to break Zodโ€™s neck. Now compare it to Ramiโ€™s Spider Man. You could tell he loved the character. He didnโ€™t try and turn Spider Man into Wolverine.
Anonymous No.211819720

so how is it ballsy to put your mascot and most profitable character in the movie? Batman isn't even the antagonist, Luthor is. The movie ends with him teaming up with Superman(their other mascot) to fight Doomsday. It would maybe be ballsy if Batman was actually just evil, and he lost, but neither of those things happen.

It makes more sense when you are familiar with how production went as many people that WB was looking for had ideas for a Superman film but didn't want to direct or write it. Snyder was the one that stepped up along with Nolan. It was meant to jump off the high of the Dark Knight Trilogy while also being different in a sci-fi setting which made it the most unique take I've seen put on screen for a comic book character. And also this >>211819761

For me, Zod turning into Doomsday is a bigger crime than Superman killing him. The second film should've just used Parasite or Metallo and reserved Doomsday for the Justice League to fight. They could still write in the whole BvS thing they did with the Kryptonite plotline and it still would've worked with Parasite or Metallo (the former having absorbed enough of his codex-tier DNA that he becomes super vulnerable to kryptonite and the latter is literally a cyborg being powered by kryptonite).

That's exactly the reason they got Snyder to direct it. They took the criticism that Returns didn't have a lot of action to heart and Snyder was well known as a stylistic action director due to 300 and Watchmen. desu I agree with you, the biggest issue is it's obvious Snyder just doesn't actually like/care about Superman that much. He's admitted as much that he wasn't into comics until he read more edgy darker ones like Watchmen and TDKR which really don't vibe with Superman's general tone, the latter of which is pretty infamous for its Batwank over Superman which bleeds through into BvS, and probably why he was so eager to adapt the Death of Superman storyline since it's one of his darker stories, complete with an edgy black suit and everything. Though in the comics he wears the black suit because it helps him power up and absorb more light and in the ZSJL he wears it just because.. Zack thought black was cool and edgy I guess.

It's almost laughable going from Batfleck to The Batman. I love Robert Pattinson as an actor, don't get me wrong, but his stiff, flailing, "realistic" fight scenes as Batman are so lame compared to the action we got in BvS. The internal conflict he has isn't even interesting. He's just a generic Batman who realizes vigilantism is le bad and we need to vote harder at the very end because a random guy said his stupid catchphrase and Riddler was gay for him. We're baited with a somewhat interesting twist about his father being corrupt only to immediately find out that it wasn't true. Batfleck is so superior it's mind boggling.

Even funnier, in death of Superman Doomsday couldn't be ushered anywhere, they leveled parts of the city.

Another Sin is calling Kal Man Of Murder especially when Richard Lester redid Superman 2's climax wherein Lester's version, Which is Canon because Donner was fired, saw Superman killing Zod after having pulverized his mortal hand.

I think you're confused, Boy. Mos' Pa Kent represents the most realistic version of the character ever seen before.
Jonathan is layered with real-world anxieties. Heโ€™s not just raising a boy with powers โ€” heโ€™s raising a potential god. His fear isnโ€™t rooted in ignorance or weakness, but in the overwhelming responsibility of guiding someone who could either save or enslave the world.

What makes this portrayal so powerful is how deeply Jonathan understands human nature โ€” both his son's and societyโ€™s. He fears what could happen if Clark is treated unjustly, bullied, rejected, or hunted: that the pain could twist him into something vengeful, a Brightburn-style figure who turns his wrath on humanity. But he also dreads the opposite โ€” that too much adoration, too early, could create a false sense of moral infallibility. That Clark might become addicted to praise, shaping his identity around public perception rather than true character, ultimately turning into a Homelander-type figure who demands love and obedience instead of earning it.

This Jonathan Kent walks a razor's edge, trying to teach restraint, humility, and patience to someone who could change the world with a flick of his wrist. Itโ€™s this tension โ€” between fear and hope, power and humility โ€” that makes him feel less like a superhero mentor archetype and more like a real father navigating an impossible situation.
