>>211836298"this will begin to make things right" from TFA is an obvious dig at the prequels. The entire press cycle around TFA revolved around "we're SAVING STAR WARS from Lucas and the prequels guys!" Several people close to the production of TFA were actively aware of and agreed with the plinkett reviews, like Simon Pegg. Actors were asked in interviews "who shot first?" in an obvious dig at George Lucas. There were snippets of the production of JJ and others talking about how they're using the same film type that ANH used, and gassing up the practical effects (obvious dig at the CG of the prequel). That godawful video "Dear JJ," which implored him to mindlessly ape the OT, was explicitly seen by JJ Abrams himself. TFA billed itself as the anti-prequel movie, there's really no doubt about it.
Disney has back tracked on mindlessly bashing the prequels because they had ongoing projects set in that era, and the sequel trilogy has effectively zero cultural impact or relevance. The rey movie that people were insisting would actually happen is currently on the shelf, which means it 100% won't get made. There has not been a single tv series definitively set in the sequel era, and the amount of crossover content is virtually nonexistent compared to what we got with the OT and PT, even after the disney acquisition.
