My total electric bill is $100 per month in a 4-bedroom house with the AC perpetually set on 70 degrees. If you live somewhere with a modicum of insulation, AC really isn't that expensive.

I grew up without AC and didn’t even know it. When we’d go to hotels I’d just think that was Hotel AC. Honestly I’d rather go back to that then deal with the electric bill

People saying stuff about the bill: why not just have a small window or portable one and only cool a specific small room that you hang out in? Less power draw and don't need to cool the whole house

Honestly, unless you live in the desert or somewhere that gets over 100F, you don't need AC.
My fairly old house didn't come with one hooked up and I never bothered to add one. During the summer it gets into the 80s and low 90s around here, but a standard box fan keeps me cool enough.
