I know Shia Labeouf is a meme and to anyone under 25 looks like a seething degenerate has been, but why did Hollywood not really embrace Shia as the next young star like a young Leo or Timothee Chalamet?

Every tail end millenial circa 2008 had seen Disturbia, Transformers and Crystal Skull. He was a part of pop culture from that era and was hanging out with Kid Cudi in his prime. He was dating "it" girls like Megan Fox and Lauren Hastings. But then in the 2010s Hollywood drops him and tries to give his career to Jon Bernthal, with mixed results.

Yeah I actually liked a lot of his bombs too. Right before his career was ended by allegations, he had a good stretch with Honey Boy and Peanut Butter Falcon. People also hated him in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull because they thought he was going to be the main character of the series going forward.

I like Timothee Chalamet, and I'm not a woman. Listen to him talk about his process and I think you'll appreciate him too. This interview with Scorcese in particular is really good. He's a much more nuanced and disciplined actor than you give him credit for.
