Yeah that's what I enjoy although there are cases like Texas Chainsaw Massacre where it's fast paced, almost rabid in its intensity, but generally I prefer slower paced horror
The reason being is that most horror fans are not really fans of horror, instead they're fans of being scared
Horror is a form of fun entertainment for them, they want to gasp and feel adrenaline, they want to giggle and laugh after a sudden jump scare, they want to wriggle about after the villain is waiting in the darkness behind the door and the victim is about to walk in not knowing who lies in wait, etc
Meanwhile true horror is not at all concerned with frivolous things like 'fun'
True horror is Hell made manifest
The true horror auteur is an explorer and cultivator of evil, he drags the unquenchable fires of Hell out of that unholy pit and gives them form in this world so that we may partake in a Eucharist of sin and suffering and death
