Near 0% chance, although Romero maintained that it was a coincidence and the black guy, in a town that was 0.001% black at the time, was simply the best actor for the role, and despite the rest of the trilogy all featuring black hero characters. No director could "accidentally" make a casting decision like that with such a script and not immediately understand how it will affect the perception of the story, characters, and themes.
