Superhero media does not come close in the slightest due to the huge barrier of entry around it. There's such a shockingly low barrier of entry for horror that it's easily the biggest slop producing genre out there. Not even close. This is an insane thing to say. Any idiot on the internet can make a horror story whereas superhero stories have a way bigger barrier to entry and aren't able to be influenced by whatever third world idiot on the interwebs. It's a huge challenge to write for the Big 2 much less be able to touch one of the big properties on film. Naturally, that does not equate to "soul" since horror has a 1000x more frequency of output and far more talentless people hacking their way into it by sheer virtue of its volume of production and release.
