That makes no sense. Tarkin explicitly says Vader is the last of his order, Kenobi says the Jedi are all but gone, Yoda says he is the last Jedi and only after Luke confronts Vader will he actually be a Jedi himself.

Vader and the Empire hunt down and kill or convert the survivors of Order 66. By the time of ANH, the only ones unaccounted for are Yoda and Kenobi. There aren't dozens or hundreds of Jedi hiding out just waiting for the right moment when there is no risk to come out of the woodwork to help Luke.

Lucas has a real hate boner for female characters who aren't padme and leia. In the original trilogy its Leia, Mon Mothma, and bar sluts representing the entire female population of the galaxy, and the prequels weren't a whole lot better. You get Pandabear Amygdala, and her saddam hussein body double handmaidens, yaddle and a few token lady jedi.
He hated Mara Jade from the old EU despite basically ignoring the EU besides cashing the licensing checks and making sure they follow the few rules he had like not fucking with vader or the emperor without special exception (shadow of the empire which had a huge multimedia push, and the dark empire comics).
But I think he just really dislikes other people's OC in his setting.

George Lucas created Ahsoka. He just wanted her to die by the end of TCW to add another reason for Anakin to be pissed off and more afraid of losing someone else. Filoni convinced him otherwise because Filoni made her his waifu. While I'm glad she didn't die, I do hate how Filoni keeps shoving her into everything and basically ruined her ending from season 5.
Filoni has more oneitis for Ahsoka than Anakin does for Padme.

I think a big problem with the prequels in general is that they want to show the decay of the old republic, and how the jedi had lost their way. But the jedi order rarely seems corrupt, or wrong, or not being able to seal the deal, they just seem poorly written.

She's obnoxious in the TCW movie they released in theaters, and in the early seasons of the show, but she really does develop into a character I liked that isn't just the obnoxious snarky sidekick.
But yeah, clone wars was the last time I bothered keeping up with star wars. Rebels looked like shit, and I think really stresses what works well in TCW is that they tried to keep the character design and aesthetic from the genndy tartakovsky clone wars.
But rebels just looks like ugly generic out of the box assets.
Then disney bought them, and any interest dropped to zero the minute I heard JJ was involved. This might be a silly question, but who are we counting as a Jedi survivor? Just fully-initiated members of the Order (i.e. Knights and Masters), or literally anyone associated with it (Padawans, Initiates, Janitors, Security Guards, etc.)

I was always under the impression that the "100 survivors" was just counting Knights and Masters and that survivor of lesser ranks like Padawans could number well into the thousands.

More importantly, Anakin, Kenobi, and Yoda were the last three surviving members of the Jedi Council so when any of them is talking about being the last of the Jedi, they're likely slanted to be referring to ones of high rank like Masters, not Padawans.
