>>211900219 (OP)yo, listen up, here's a story about a little guy that lives in a blue world
was good for the first season but then it literally just became this fat fuck asking Marty to complete an impossible task in 24 hours every day
>>211900219 (OP)It was good for a time. Marty was a good character and his ability to compartmentalize his life was top tier.
>>211900219 (OP)Sort of. I liked all the seasons, but it felt like it tread water for a good portion of its run the same way a lot of modern serialized TV does. The first season is genuinely tense though.
first two seasons are actually good, I think it jumps the shark when Agent Petty dies but season 3 is still very very enjoyable because Wendy's brother is a great character
>>211900219 (OP)>This cunt likes to kick. Get some you skinny bitchoh my sweet Ruth
Can anyone explain his business plan for the garage/diner near start of series 1?
>>211900219 (OP)I never watched the final season, when I saw in the first episode that their son betraying his family for the hillbilly bitch.
What happened in the end?
>wendy: we are SO close, Marty, don't give up on me now, the only we're gonna make it through this is if this family is together
>marty: yeah I don't have time for this right now, I'll talk to Jonah later, mkay? good talk
>omar: wendy, I need you to harness the power of the sun for me
>wendy: we need to bribe so many senators, bribe our way into NASA, this could take a month or more
>omar: you got 24 hours, Wendy, don't disappoint me
This is every episode after season 1.
>>211900743season 4 is all about the byrde family having superhuman luck, they're torn apart and hate each other basically the entire time until they realize they win at everything and ruth dies unceremoniously. weirdly meta, not done or thought out well
>>211900219 (OP)Dropped it after they did the muh homophobic redneck is actually gay trope
>>211900907That was such a shit decision.
>>211901052The final season had absolutely nothing and bateman as the director literally just kept doing ass shots to Ruth to keep the audience engaged
>>211900219 (OP)I hate how Marty loses control and agency and just becomes a weak cuck.
It had individually well acted and directed scenes and even episodes, but it never seemed to come together to a cohesive whole. There was no greater point or arc, it was just stuff happening.
The final season had this strange position of being clearly in no way prepared to end the show, like a lot of final seasons when a show ends early. But simultaneously it seemed to have zero plan of where it was going and having obviously run out of steam. So it both just faffed about filling time til the season was over, and also did absolutely nothing to wrap up the show.
Then it just stopped.
>>211900999it was like some metaphor for "old money" or whatever, or like people who buy into the political system where there are no consequences for your actions anymore because you're entrenched/untouchable. kind of a similar take as the American Psycho film i guess. there was probably supposed to be some longer feminist arc to it but they obviously had to cram like 2-3 seasons into 1 to finish the show quickly.
>>211901052I was glad to see Justin Timberlake still getting work, he deserves it
>>211901658the whole thing with Ruth hooking up with the lady who used to own the restaurant, and the whole thing with the cartel guy dying and his mom or whatever taking over seemed to me like there was meant to be some larger feminist arc along with Wendy becoming the primary figure in the family doing bad shit instead of Marty. i'm actually kind of disappointed we never got to see it play out, it seemed like an anti-girlboss thing with two of the women being horrible people and two of them getting completely fucked over for trying to enter this space with "old money" types.
>>211900219 (OP)It was blue thats for sure
the final season really reminded me of the final season of sons of anarchy really jumbled and rushed.
also still dont understand why darlene killed jacob
>>211903265They both were going to kill each other. Jacob was going to kill Darlene because she was obviously too insane and making awful decisions, also was going to kill him. Darlene killed Jacob because he was going "too soft", being amicable with MARDY and was going to kill her.
>Ok, give me fifteen minutes on your daughter and we'll call it even
>>211903436thank you it makes sense then i thought
>oh wow thats kinda extreme why didnt they just talk it out then i remembered theyre both insane kek
>>211900219 (OP)I couldn't stand this stupid color grading and the Neanderthal face of his daughter.
Dropped after season 1.
>>211904479The daughter looked like an albino Native American man
>>211905718he wasn't? that was supposed to be a woman? what???
>>211900219 (OP)she looks like such a baby in Season 1 event pics
>>211900893>>omar: wendy, I need you to harness the power of the sun for mekek, I read it in his voice.
>>211901658this is so fuckig stupid and wrong. All the threads got properly developed and nicely tied at the end. Are you fucking braindead?
>>211900219 (OP)Not really.
Every character makes retarded decisions and insane things just keep happening for utterly contrived reasons just to keep the stupid "misery porn" plot going.
Also i had to turn it off when it started with the gay sex subplot, which was quite early.
>>211905718she really does lol
>>211908389>Ruth kills Navarro's nephew>Navarro takes the blame>His sister tries to have him killed in prison in revenge>Eventually, he confesses to her he was not responsible and they reconcile>Then in the finale....she just has him killed to usurp control of the cartel...because.The plot and characters made no sense from episode to episode by the end.
>>211908641it's so obvious it was like a Game of Thrones thing where they were working backwards from a conclusion they had and basically had to teleport characters around and wave magic wands to make their motivations/the storylines fit the ending.
>>211908641Also I should mention, when introduced, Navarro's sister doesn't have any interest in running the cartel and is unhappy her son is involved as Navarro's apparent successor.
>>211900219 (OP)Jason Bateman played a very convincing Jason Bateman.
>>211908806yeah she literally becomes the new head of the cartel out of fucking nowhere, that wasn't set up or foreshadowed at all and just seemed to play into the girlboss angle the show was going for with all the female criminals.
>>211908806The reason is "oops finale is here we gotta off the villain so...uh....he's assassinated".
>>211908735They seemed to land on "The Byrd family sacrifice their surrogate family member Ruth to protect themselves and that is a sign of how POWER CORRUPTS and stuff" as their big ending but then they get to it in the most contrived, rushed and haphazard way, and then of course the finale ends like four minutes later with another last minute plot tie-up which feels even more clumsy. They seemed to use their excuse of "well they are bad guys and the bad guys win in real life so that's social commentary you know" to avoid actually really tying up the arcs, if they existed, of the Byrd family characters. The result is other than the two major character deaths, both extremely rushed and contrived, it doesn't even feel like a series finale. In fact I seem to recall a lot of people saying that they thought there was another episode to come and were confused when that was it, end of the playlist on Netflix.
>>211908735And here is a big ass reason it makes no sense, it was not what the originally outlined.
>When Mundy and the writers outlined Season 4, Ruth originally survived. Then Netflix ordered four more episodes.>โWe had originally broken the end of 10 episodes, and we had the whole season broken and weโd even started writing it, then the order changed from 10 to 14. We knew it was going to be split up so that people were going to experience it where Episode 7 was going to end and Episode 8 was going to be a beginning again. So we kind of had to tear apart our whole season break and add story that felt like it was part of what we were doing and not just tacked on. So some things morphed a little bit when that happened.โ>In that original 10-episode plan, Javi (Alfonso Herrera) died at the very end of the series and Ruth survived. When the season was expanded, Mundy explained that Javiโs death was moved up, his mother Camilaโs (Verรณnica Falcรณn) role was expanded, and it became clear that Ruth wouldnโt make it out alive.Good old Netflix, ending the show on Season 4...then trying to get more or less two seasons out of Season 4 anyway by "splitting" it into two halves with more episodes, instead of the 10 episodes that the first three seasons each had and Season 4 had been planned to have.
>>211900343Navarroposting was the highlight of the crummy final season
>>211900343Marty I need you to steal the declaration of independence. You have 1 hour *click*
I'm fuckin' silver, Mardi!
>>211913322How is it possible that the silver surfer cg from 20 years ago looks better than this? What the fuck
>>211913352It does you blind sack of dogshit kys
No, it lost steam very fast and didn't have a clear vision to where it wanted to go
finale season had some bad moments but the last two eps were basically perfect. Also, third season is the best
>>211900219 (OP)It fell off after the first season.
>>211913413I can't fucking see shit. Do lights not exist in the Ozark universe?
>>211900219 (OP)I dropped it on the last season.
Same with House, Dexter and Better Call Saul.
American shows burn out really quickly and it becomes obvious that the ending is going to suck.
KDG rules.
>>211900219 (OP)No I heard there's cuckery
