>>211944637Christianity doesn’t adhere to the Torah or because Christianity fundamentally isn’t Judaism and it isn’t trying to be, the Jews believe they were “chosen” by their god, and made a covenant with him, meaning they have to uphold their end of the deal by maintaining all the traditions and following all the rules, in return they get special treatment and, if they really do keep the covenant, God will send them their Messiah, who will bring about world peace, paradise on earth, etc.
Christians believe that Christ was this Messiah, that he was sent absolve the world of sin, and more importantly, bring world peace through his teachings, which apply to everyone, not just the Jews. Christians don’t keep all the little rules and rituals because they believe that, since the Jews held up their end of the bargain with God and the Messiah came, that the laws don’t apply anymore. Religion shouldn’t be judged by what’s “more original” or orthodox anyway, it should be judged by it’s ability to create and maintain a functioning, healthy society.
