Where does he get this tough guy attitude from? Dudes been a theatre kid since he was in highschool. He comes from a nice upper middle class, Jewish family. His dad was a lawyer and on the board of directors for the American humane society and his grandpa was famous musician and producer Murray bernthal. The guys had a much more privileged life than me and anyone I know. So why is he larping like he's some bad ass?

Jon was a regular at the 100% local family owned sandwich shop I worked at. One time a couple of tourists from the Bible Belt came in like they owned the place. They were loudly listening to a Joe Rogan podcast on speaker and barged past an LGBT couple to order. I asked what they'll have and they just stared blankly and said "I'll have the uhhhhhh.....". This is when I saw Jon calmly get up and begin to walk over, the two buffoons utterly unaware of what was approaching their six.
"Hey". That's all Jon said as the whole sandwich shop went silent. The Black single mother with her 8 kids looked on with admiration, and the centre-right leaning transwoman looked up from her many books on intersectionalism.
The unwelcome deplorables stared at Jon, sizing him up. "Don't disrespect the sandwich parlour", said Jon with unshakable determination. But they sealed their own fate. "I ain't gotta listen to you, mister vegan" guffawed the fat one.

That's all I heard. Next thing I know, the two far right internet trolls were down. Jon didn't say a word. He simply returned to his table to finish his sandwich as the whole shop witnessed history being made. They awoke in a stupor as we were closing and asked what happened. I simply said, "fuck around, find out" before they gathered themselves and left in utter embarrassment.

Back then I was dickhead teenager with a rapsheet a mile long and I didn't know what I was doing or what I wanted out of life but he had been where I was and he really understood why I acted that way, he took me under his wing and got me out of the gang I was with and let me into his home and introduced me to his wife and kids, it was the first time I felt loved and trusted in a long time. He put me on the right path and introduced me to my best friend and savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. I'll never forget what he did for me, I'd probably be dead or in prison if not for him, I moved to Cali to get an acting gig so I could be just like the guy who saved me.

Honestly, who cares. An actor is only one part of the overall mechanism of a movie. Maybe he's faking it but faking it well in the movies where he plays. Maybe he really is a tough guy that gets typecast well.
I don't really understand people's fascination with actors' IRL personalities. They aren't the people you see on the screen, they are just the people with the faces you're familiar with who enunciate words you're familiar with. I'm not sure why their real personalities matter to anyone at all.
