It's the type of movie that only movie buffs and artists will appreciate. It's not entertaining if you're looking for a straight forward narrative and by the numbers film, which is what that 50% on Rotten Tomatoes who down voted were expecting. And that's fair enough. Who care if 50% don't like it? It's not for them. You need art literacy to fully appreciate the movie. Things like the heroes journey, or the mix of the profane with the sacred that they hit over and over and the deeper philosophy of death, or the cyclical nature of the human experience, it's not really engaging to the average movie goer

One unexpected thing about this movie is that it does make 28 Weeks Later canon. So the Americans canonically spent loads of effort and money and ended up with a catastrophe that spread to France. I guess it makes sense that after that nobody would bother / take the risk anymore

The kid has no reason to rage at the doctor because unlike with the father, he gently gives him 100% certainty that his mother will die painfully and that there is no cure for her cancer. He didn't have that knowledge and certainty before which is why he freaked out. The doctor teaches him to accept death too with the whole memento mori thing.

I'm all for realism in movies, but I wouldn't fret a detail like face masks. The actors were good and were able to convey realistic emotions, even the kid. Although it wouldn't matter to see their faces during the action sequences. But as another anon mentioned they are using ranged weapons so splatter wouldn't be problem. How do the infected survive winter?
How do the infected raise children especially infants? Even if the infants are infected with rage at birth, does the mother infected breastfeed it? Where do they get good that the infant can eat to grow and age? Babies are basically retards until they're 2+ years old and even then they can't fully move and coordinate on their own until past that.
How are so many of the infected so young? It's 28 YEARS later, so these had to be newer infected on an Island that was essentially completely depopulated after the first outbreak in 28 Days Later. Remember that in 28 weeks so many millions of people died on the british Isles that they had to bring back all the brits that lived overseas just to start repopulating the country, and they were confined to one small part of London called the City of London, only a couple thousand people were even living there at the point of the second outbreak.

So how are there just packs of infected roaming around everywhere in Britain? Wouldn't the Island still basically be empty? Ok let's just pretend that the infected evolved a way to survive not starving to death over the years, fine but they would have definitely still starved to death following the second outbreak since britain was already wasted and without any wildlife or other shit to eat after the first outbreak. So somehow the infected which are shown in the movie to be extremely primitive, splashing in a stream drinking water with their hands, eating deer because that's the only thing they can do is run around and clobber deer to death with their hands to eat.

Then there's the worm guys. How do they survive? Worms have hardly any calories, certainly not enough to sustain a person nor do they have the calories or nutrients for a person to survive off them alone. Their bodies would just shut down over time, just like what happens if you tried to eat just rabbits to survive, only worms are worse than rabbits.
