I have a zoomer friend who is really creeped out by this movie's concept, lol.

People were far better adjusted/secure in their sexuality and more innocent back then, and we weren't exposed to weird sex stuff like we are now. Even porn was extremely vanilla compared to what we have today. The idea of your mom being attracted to you, even if she's mega hot like Lea Thompson is, was seen as so preposterous and uncomfortable that it made for good comedy. These days though such extreme fantasies and fetishes are a little too real I guess.
