S1 made more sense, he didn't know better, was optimistic, and the games were a mystery. S2 is a guy with 40 millions who still is sad and angry and uses all the money to punish the creators and the only thing he came up with is trying the persuade unarmed people to rebel against armed security. There is no mystery and you know from the start that the other guy is a mole.
