The Phoenician Scheme (2025)
Finally a little bit better Wes Anderson.
He acknowledged that the only good part of the French Dispatch was Benicio del Toro part, so he gives him a full feature, and that's what elevates this movie.
The movie is very enjoyable except for the parts where Michael Cera and/or Scarlett Johansson are on screen, when it loses the steam and plummets to the lows of the worst Wes Anderson.
Overall it's improvement in every way over most of his latest filmography, it's soulful, warm, beautiful aesthetics add to the movie instead of looking like a hollow ai generated trash.

VERDICT: WATCHABLE AT THE LEVELS OF GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

i like the idea of a businessman who spends all his time on the planet trying to thwart the zog, inspirational. i don't like the idea of his archenemy being his his half brother, i would prefer the zog to keep that place, brother being just a nuisance

It's much better than Asteroid City. I thought it was pretty funny and the nun is cute.

yeah, imho it's much better, asteroid city writing looks chatgpt generated.
its soulfulness does rely a bit on feeling the family dynamics, so i guess for autists who don't, it will be flatter

>trying to thwart the zog
You mean trying to be the happiest merchants of them all, pissing off everyone else in the process, and the only redeeming factor about him is that he made his daughter

Rather antisemitic title.
Imagine making a film called the Hebraic Scheme.

Impossible to watch. I'm light years away from the mind state of "hey I'm in the mood for something quirky!" That only comes when you have seen enough actually cool stuff recently.

No, I don't think I will abandon reason and taste so I can pretend that new slop is palatable.

It was a good movie, barring the like three minutes with Johanson which felt kinda pointless.

French dispatch was the best Wes Anderson in like a decade, I don’t trust the opinion of anyone who didn’t like it

For some reason Del Toro seems to be one of the few actors that can pull off Anderson's directing without wooden acting, it's really glaring when you watch him beside everyone else in this movie
