>The crew compartment, containing human remains, and many other fragments from the submarine were recovered from the ocean floor after a three-month search and recovery operation. The exact timing of the deaths of the crew is unknown, but several crew members are thought to have survived the initial breakup of Titan. The submarine had noescape system and the impact of the crew compartment atterminal velocitywith the ocean floor was too violent to be survivable.
>The crew cabin hit the ocean floor at 207 mph (333 km/h) approximately two minutes and 45 seconds after breakup. The estimated deceleration was 200 g, far exceeding structural limits of the crew compartment or crew survivability levels.

grim.

Wouldn't all the air immediately exit after the submarine imploded? Combined with the impact of flying debris and pressue, wouldn't that mean the crew would die in a lot less than 2 minutes or at least be rendered unconscious?

>Charter pilot Lewis Key claimed to have overheard passengers arguing with the pilot, Luis Morales III, prior to take off, adding that Morales warned them that there was too much weight for a "safe flight". Key further stated: "He tried to convince them the plane was overloaded, but they insisted they had chartered the plane and they had to be in Miami Saturday night.

One of my best friends in college was roommates with a black butch hoodrat lesbian. one night when we were hanging out there drinking and getting high she put on this documentary about Aaliyah (who i'd never heard about before) talking about how the Illuminati and the Freemasons arranged to have her killed to keep black people down. It was the most ridiculous shit I'd ever heard but the roommate was stonefaced serious about it the entire time.

One of the engineers Stockton fired gave an interesting interview to 60m Australia. He defends carbon fiber hulls for deep sea exploration and speculates the cause of failure was the glue joint between the titanium ring and the carbon fiber which he claims was stressed by mishandling. He says the media message it was just the carbon fiber is misleading even though he himself refused to ride in the titan.

I sometimes think about what the final hours were like and wish we had some kind of audio or something just for the morbidly curiosity. from all accounts Stockton was a smug prick and only got more insufferable in stressful situations, I wonder if anyone lost it on him before the end or if anyone went nuts in general and started attacking people. It's fascinating to contemplate on how strangers would act in that enclosed of a space once they started to realize they were not going to be saved.

It's a moot point. Even if the lost cosmonaut theories are true, there's no way her capsule would be floating out in deep space unless it achieved escape velocity. A spacecraft launched into earth orbit, even if it bounces off the atmosphere during reentry, will just reenter again later, but at a deadly reentry angle with high G loads.

So here are just a few facts
>boeing engineers gave him a report on the sub that said it would not be safe below a certain depth(which the titanic was just under), he ignored that and did it anyway
>he said up monitoring systems to alert them to possible problems, the system seems to have worked great, he just ignored it
>he refused to do proper inspections after obvious damage to see about repairs
>he stored it outside and in sub zero temps which is known to damage the materials the sub is made of
And it still made it to the titanic multiple times before it failed. To me this is proof carbon fiber subs work just fine, they just need to be safety tested properly to determine what depth and what conditions they can be used, proper safety monitoring and inspections etc, and further iterations of it will surely be better made using lessons from this one. This guy could have made any sub fail no matter the material. He did literally everything wrong.

They design sub windows so that they are thick as fuck and the outside pressure actively wedges them in tighter. The pressure would probably be squeezing the crack closed rather than letting water into the crack. It'd have to be so much pressure it destroys the window entirely to let water rush through the hole.

This is objectively untrue. Nowhere in the real world is it evidenced that increasing the minimum wage causes nearly enough inflation to cancel out wage increase. Its not what happens.

Paying a higher minimum wage doesn't insert new money into the economy. That money would still generally be circulating and buying things either way.

low upfront investment is really the selling point on carbonfibre sub
plus it being massively cheaper to haul it around because it weighs so much less
but yeah in the end its disposable, when it starts breaking, its just ruined forever.
you'd need to do actual tests to destruction on multiple subs to figure out if their life cycle is long enough to be worth it

Because the space programs are traditionally run with regard to safety, accepted truths in the engineering/construction, tons of training, and failsafes built upon failsafes.
Failures predominantly happened before humans were put into orbit (with some very famous exceptions).
Stockton Rush was a fucking moron who thought he knew better than everyone else. There are shitloads of protocols for how to build subs to go to specific depths, materials that should be used, how to test new craft, guidelines for building triple redundant systems so there are backups for failures, etc.
He ignored all of this because he thought it was getting in the way of progress. He ignored a lot of peoples' warnings and worked around limitations by exploiting loopholes and doing shady shit.

At the very least, he believed in his sub enough to go down with the ship. He was an idiot, but I think he really did think he knew better. You'll see Elon swearing up and down that his rockets are a great and super safe, but he's not going to be on any manned missions.
