1980s nonsense films
This film is like 99% of films from the 80s where the film you remember (or claim to remember) in your head is way different to the reality of the film.
Even the idea is buffed by nostalgia. It's like half an idea for a film.
Ok, there's ghosts, and the characters set up a business to catch ghosts for profit sort of. But there's no twist to it. There's no catch to set up a comedy premise. You don't even really see any competitors. It's so basic.
Why are there ghosts? Don't think about it. Why are ghosts seen as so banal that the ghostbusters are analogous to inner city pest exterminators? Doesn't matter, don't worry about it. All these 1980s filmmakers with Empire strikes back and Back to the Future rush to the catchphrases and things they want to see without realising there's no story. It's just nonsense.
