Wanna hear the dumb reason I hated him for years? I saw a picture from one of his films where he was dressed up in his Navy uniform and it had flared pant legs. Like bell bottoms. I thought "ha what bullshit no way the British navy had bell bottoms at some point" and decided I hated the Moore era for years after that. I got over it

TWINE has a few things that undercut the movie.
>Renard's stupid bullet-brain thing
>Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist
>some really awful puns like "Christmas is coming twice this year"
I know the Bond movies get pretty campy, but all that shit really didn't belong in this dark story about Bond finding out that his latest love interest is the villain.

A View To A Kill has its own cult fanbase within the general Bond fanbase.
It's got some flaws that keep me from calling it unequivocally great, but I do love it and there isn't another movie, let alone Bond movie, that scratches the itch AVTAK scratches.

The Christmas jokes were pretty funny, but the rest is correct. Denise Richards was so laughably poorly cast it's insane. The Bond Girl being the villain would have worked much better if she was the only Bond Girl in the film.

I'm running into a lot of opinions that FYEO is boring, and I understand. When you haven't watched it in a while you don't remember much exciting. But I'm always surprised how much I love it every time I do watch it. Also I used to hate Bibi, but she's grown on me over the viewings.

George Lazenby decision to not do a sequel due to typecasting fears will go down as one of the most bone headed decisions in hollywood.

So what if you're typecasted? You make 3 or 4 more bond films, make your millions to invest and retire into the sunset.

>Moore would've fit Diamonds better

That's a good point. Lots of Bond films would have been much better if they had cast the right actor as 007:

FILM: Diamonds Are Forever
RIGHT BOND: Roger Moore
WHY: Needs a goofy guy sleep-walking through the role not taking it seriously

FILM: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
RIGHT BOND: Timothy Dalton
WHY: Needs a basically serious 007

FILM: The Man With The Golden Gun
RIGHT BOND: Sean Connery
WHY: Abusing Maud Adams was much more a Sean thing than a Roger thing

FILM: A View To A Kill
RIGHT BOND: Pierce Brosnan
WHY: He would have been about the right age

Best Bond film is a matter of taste but the lesser categories have pretty clearcut answers I think:—

Best pre-credits sequence: The Spy Who Loved Me

Best song: Casino Royale

Best villain: Christopher Lee (The Man With The Golden Gun)

Best girl (main): Claudine Auger (Thunderball)

Best girl (evil): Luciana Paluzzi (Thunderball) [although if you say Xenia Onatopp I have no quarrel with you]

Best henchman: Jaws (The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker)

Best car: The Spy Who Loved Me

Best ‘they really did it’ stunt: Car bridge jump (The Man With The Golden Gun)

Best fight: From Russia With Love, probably [although Casino Royale had a decent one]

Best gadget: Scaramanga's gun assembled from desk objects (The Man With The Golden Gun) [007's gadgets are all silly]

Best chase: Citroen 2CV (For Your Eyes Only), probably [although Pierce Brosnan in the tank was fun]

Best lame pun: ‘I think he’s attempting re-entry, sir’ (Moonraker)

Am I the only one who thinks the best move for the franchise is a book accurate period movie adaptation of Casino Royale? I read the original novel a few years ago and thought it was amazing, far better as a tense east vs west cold war thriller instead of the world police super cop direction of the Craig movie.

TND has some pacing issues but is an otherwise good film and is possibly the most underrated Bond film. Elliot Carver is up there as GOAT Bond villain and the movie's themes are more relevant then ever. TWINE has a weak main villain, some bad editing, and tonal inconsistencies that drags the film down, but I still enjoy it.

>>212039116
Elektra is a top-tier femme fatale. But the movie does have tonal problems. It tries to be gritty and campy at the same time which comes off as odd. Like the writers were fighting over making it Moore-esque or Dalton-esque when they should have been making it Brosnan-esque.

He probably just said that to be supportive of the guy who was currently playing the role.
What else is he going to say, he's a complete faggot?

He had the same problem as Craig in that his movies were heavily reliant on the villain holding up the movie. He had Sean Bean with Goldeneye and that's it, I can't even remember who the rest of his villains were.
At least Craig had Mads Mikkelson and Javier Bardem.

Dalton had the best babes. It's him and Brosnan. But yeah Lea Seydoux is ridiculously beautiful in Spectre

a specific way Brosnan would have been good for AVTAK is that Brosnan would be perfect as the aloof rich kid who inherited a stable and mistreats the help. Moore is fantastic in those scenes, but the cover story is more fitting of a spoiled brat.
and for the record, AVTAK is great the way it is. any flaws are part of the charm.

I still say that Connery should have made OHMSS but simply because that movie is mostly a subversion of 60s Bond as a whole.

Imagine if after the 7 year-long Bondmania we got a movie where Connery is vulnerable, where he wears a skirt, where he falls in love and gets married, where he loses in the end. Would have been unironically culture-defining. People would be talking about that ending where Bond cries over the dead Bond girl's body to this day
