There's a charm and a social commentary about a single, childless, career driven woman adopting a girl and then suddenly developing a loli robot as a stand in mom. It is a great critique of current women embedded with lots of dark humor, light horror elements and a few meme scenes meant for social media engagement/going viral. Just got back from the theater.

I really liked it. It thought it was very funny, and giving M3gan a redemption arc in a genre shift sequel was the right move in my opinion.

The movie is perfectly paced for the first two acts, but becomes somewhat meandering in the climax. Then I felt the resolution after the climax went a little too fast.

The M3gan/Gemma/Cady dynamic just works on a fundamental level. My biggest issue with it is that it becomes too M3gan/Gemma over M3gan/Cady in the third act.

So I guess my biggest issue is with the third act, but I still really enjoyed it regardless.

In a way, it could be argued her bad actions in the first movie were more Gemma's fault than M3GAN since M3GAN is compelled to obey orders and Gemma's orders weren't well thought out. It also helps that M3GAN only killed people who were assholes. I heard that an earlier version of the script might have had M3GAN killing the therapist from the first movie and Gemma's lab assistance but they realized people would like M3GAN better if she her more sympathetic victims survived.

I think part of what makes her likeable is that deep down she just wants to protect someone so even her bad actions come from a place of love.

M3gan sneakily bought and disposed of at LEAST 65000 copies of Gemma's book, to give her a passive income, and has been observing them for two years without them knowing.
M3gan sees everything in the house. To the point where she can say, open a fridge door and hit someone in the face in the dark.
M3gan also sees everything they do online.
M3gan was ragging on Gemma for her boyfriend choice, as the guy is kind of a mayonnaise on white bread sandwich and apparently, when Gemma wants to rub one out, her tastes in porn seem to be more musclebound caveman Fabio ungabunga sex.
