I know this is a generic answer but I've genuinely never had a worse time watching a film than with the original suicide squad. Painfully bad. It wasn't even so-bad-its-funny bad, just plain bad. I was watching a stream of the film and when it got to the part where the fire Mexican is about to fight the magic witch woman and the stream paused to buffer and I took it as a sign to stop watching it right then and never went back. I think I was only like 15 minutes from the end but I never bothered finishing it and I'm glad I haven't.
Rise of Skywalker without question
People shit on The Last Jedi but it had some decent moments same as The Force Awakens. Rise of Skywalker was just an embarrassing CGI slopfest with dogshit dialogue and niggers riding horses on top of spaceships
>>212056903 (OP)For me, it has to be the sequel of a film that I enjoyed enormously, but loses absolutely everything that made the original film special.
No, I have not seen Joker 2, nor will I. WB won't sequel bait me ever again.

My personal one I loathe is 'Mars Attacks'.
All star cast for its time. High enough budget that it doesn't have the excuse of being some low budget flick. Just a plain ugly, mean spirited movie. The only thing I'll give it is that there really isn't another movie like it. But overall just a horrible movie that's the equivalent of a midday nap where you wake up disorientated and sweating.
>>212058422The fight between the Mexican and "Incubus" is one of the worst elements of CGI put onto screens in the last 20 years.
It starts with Incubus doing poorly staged "attacks" on the rest of the Skwad (while not being in the same frame with them) with stupid looking CGI tentacles, and never gets better than that.
>>212058552>it has to be the sequel of a film that I enjoyed enormously, but loses absolutely everything that made the original film specialFirst thing that comes to mind, Smoking Aces 2. Second one must be Sicario, but that one wasn't really as bad.
Wonder Woman 1984. it's agonizing
Mortal engines is probably the worst film i ever saw.
So basically none of you have watched Cats.
>>212056903 (OP)Calling this thing "absolute slop" isn't an exaggeration.
that zombie movie with adam driver and bill murray
If we include genre and exploitation cinema then
Nude on the Moon and Diary of a Nudist (1961) - early nudie cuties that are amateur in every way, although some can find them earnest and endearing.
If not then several candidates:
Seduto alla sua destra aka Black Jesus (1968) - a very schematic, barebones biopic that doesn't give away any context and instead focuses on weirdly homoerotic violence. Abysmal Italian dubbing as a cherry on top.
La Religieuse (1966) - I like Rivette but this is wtf was he thinking tier bad. It's one of the ugliest films I've ever seen. Horrible dirty, dusty, unpainted sets, potato sacks instead of costumes, mannered, mechanical non-acting, criminally incompetent editing. A shot of a skull toy as a prop in a solitary cell is the worst moment I have ever seen in cinema.
What? (1972) - very obviously made as an excuse to fuck around on the villa that was used as a set. A coked up film made before coked up film became mainstream. An incoherent Alice in Wonderland with a naked heroine and rape played for laughs.
Fool for Love (1985) - filmed theater of the worst kind in the worst sense of the word. Coarse, pretentious melodrama that descends into characters bluntly reading exposition for the entire third act.
>>212056903 (OP)I thought the movie was okay. Not great or iconic or anything but just okay. Why exactly are you considering this a bad movie or are you just exaggerating how bad a mediocre film is?
>>212058778Sicario was shit, the sequel at least had loli Moaner disappointingly she doesn't get gangraped
Cats (the movie) is objectively the worst thing made in the 21st century.
Yes, even worse than that thing you are thinking of.
There are so many different ways to quantify "worst" but as far as the gap between hopes and reality this has to be the rock bottom
I could literally follow James Cameron around for the rest of his life just asking him over and over "Why wasn't it as good as Terminator, James? Why wasn't it as good as Aliens, James? Why wasn't it even as good as True Fucking Lies, James? How the fuck did you make the greatest scifi action movies ever and then you got 20 years to work and a billion dollar budget and all you could give us is this dogshit? Huh? What happened to you?"
Just stand over his bed repeating it over and over every night for years because no answer he gave could be satisfactory
>>212059159>Sicario was shitI never watched that movie because it doesn't interest me but from all the praise I hear about that movie from critics that I mostly trust the opinion of I would assume you're purely ragebaiting. 2/10 try harder.
>>212058883This is a strong pick. People shitpost a lot about malevolent directors, but of course most directors aren't malevolent, they're just careless, inept or greedy. I accept no hyperbole about Michael Bay because you can't question that Michael Bay loves what he does and loves his dipshit audience.
The Dead Don't Die and pic related are two of the only films I can ever think of that were truly and unironically made out of malice; the director hated the movie and hated the audience and wanted to make something intentionally unpleasant and unwatchable as an act of contempt towards the audience. At his heart, not even Lars von Trier can truly do this, no matter how gross shit gets you can feel him delighting in it like a misbehaved child stepping on ants.
But I think you're a special kind of asshole to spend millions of dollars and months/years of your life to craft something that's literally just "Fuck you for watching this, fuck you for creating a market where this could be made."
>>212059186>20 years to work and a billion dollar budget and all you could give us is this dogshit? Huh? What happened to you?You answered your own question inherently. Suicide Squad literally isn't even the only movie that year where a bunch of sarcastic misfits go to stop a CGI monster from shooting a big blue beam in the sky to blow up a city
>>212058778I don't remember Smokin' Aces 2 so it was probably bad but I have a soft spot for it because the only thing I remember was the climax being set to my singular all-time favorite song (The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret by Queens of the Stone Age)
>>212059315>needlesslyIt's still the highest grossing movie of all time, it more then recouped it's costs. There are plenty of Megalopolis-style movies that are self indulgent catastrophes, but Avatar isn't one of them, contrarian child.
>>212059295funny game is good regardless of how much of a baby Haneke is, he has made worse movies before and after that
Meet the Spartans easily.
I have a tremendous tolerance for the whole Leslie Nielsen/David Zucker style of comedy. I loved The Naked Gun and Scary Movie like everybody, but I also loved Superhero Movie and Scary Movie 3/4 even though they're ostensibly "bad"
I tapped the fuck out on this one. Absolutely unbearable, even to someone who went in receptive to what it was doing. Fuck this movie. Kevin Sorbo did God's Not Dead to escape the shame of this movie.
>>212059464I never said it was a catastrophe or box office failure. It's needless. They're generic films. This isn't exactly a contrarian take. Cameron is a smart dude and Avatar LOOKS great but that's about all I can say positively about Avatar. Remember I am not the person claiming this is the worst movie.
>>212059614>>212059464I am the person claiming Avatar is the worst movie and I feel a literal sense of entitlement that a guy like Cameron or Ridley Scott or Scorsese owe us better movies than they make now or we should just put them on icebergs an push them away like Eskimos do to elderly people
It probably isn't fair that I am more unforgiving to directors I loved
>>212059592Every movie like this is better off existing as clips on youtube nowadays. Would never sit down and watch 90 minutes of this crap just to laugh at a handful of jokes or funny scenes.

And it's a perfect acceptable sci-fi adventure when they are honestly pretty hard to come by.

Nor is it "overrated" by fans or critics.

I think Tropic Thunder was around the same time, maybe he had a calculated career move to destroy the kind of arrogant persona that had developed around him, but it worked
Speaking of contrarianism, this one just baffles me for how successful and acclaimed it was
Literally unironically nothing happens

>>212059983You might be shitposting but godamn I hated Space Cop
Why the fuck couldn't they just be sincere?
All the "classics," The Room, Samurai Cop, Birdemic, all the way back to Manos and Plan 9, they hold up because they're dead fucking sincere. Imagine how dogshit it would be if Tommy Wiseau ever winked in the camera. What gives the movies any merit they have is that in spite of being poorly written, acted, directed, shot, etc. they're still completely sincere, like some wonderful maniac was going "I really tried to make the best movie I could and bring my vision to life and this was the result" and that has an ineffable charm of its own
There is genuinely a better movie buried under "I'm Rich Evans and this is Mike Stoklasa and we can't act and we have no money but here's a movie about a cop from space killing people" and they couldn't bring themselves to make it, as if they were fucking ashamed.

I read that perverted hack Joe Ezterhaus's autobiography and got curious. Worst thing I've ever seen.
>>212068061People just hate him and his movies now because redditors praise kubrick like he's a god. Kubrick was a genius but he's the only director that's really ever been given this treatment so it got really annoying and tiresome. Not to mention all the absurd conspiracy's surrounding him. I don't even like to mention him anymore when it comes to films despite loving many of his films due to hearing either side either hate or love him unconditionally. Fans ruining the image of something good, tale as old as time.
>>212056903 (OP)Usually these kind of movies are fairly competently made, but just have no soul or anything interesting going for it. Perfect mediocrity is the most painfully boring a movie can get. A truly bad movie is always unintentionally interesting in some way
>>212064496Dead Man IS a great lil film, but i could understand why people wouldnt enjoy it. going into it habeebing its something else, like Pig

>>212059813i'm glad she got her head blown halfway off, rest of the movie? shit

>>212060690What's the movie? If you're born after 1980, you have to start understanding that the rest of us can't hear your thoughts.
>>2120719653 wasn't a masterpiece but I believe you're thinking of 2
In 2 they're all trapped in a base with bugs that burrow in people's brains and take them over, i.e. they don't even need bug effects it's just actors playing Body Snatcher. Notably the main character is supposed to be Clancy Brown but they couldn't afford Clancy Brown back, which sort of feels like you couldn't afford Eric Roberts. $7 million budget, 33% RT, 3.6 IMDB
3 is supposed to be a return to form but it's also dogshit, its only saving grace is that it resembles 1 more than 2. T'Pol from Star Trek Enterprise is the main character and she's guiding a small group of crash survivors across a bug infested planet, sorta like Pitch Black but during the day. They get the big hype moment at the end when they're cornered and totally doomed and Casper Van Dien shows up in badly CGIed power armor that's supposed to be more like "real" Heinlein armor. $20 million budget, 43% RT, 4.3 IMDB rating
3 had one memorable thing going for it, the new Starship Troopers theme song, and a sorta clever plot conceit where the guy who sings it is a coward and a traitor but after he dies all of the surviving heroes simply agree without much hesitation to lie to the public that he fell heroically in battle because he's such a useful recruiting tool
Most 'worst movies' in here are laughable picks.
Almost every single movie in the thread has some sort of entertainment value or craftmanship gone into them.
I watch shit movies for my own fun, used to stream them too, and this is one of the most loathsome worst movies i've ever sat through.
Worst sin of a movie is to be BORING. You never wanna put on something and be bored, waiting it to be over.

>>212073170Oh god, Rollergator and Baby Ghost are very strong "worst movie ever made" contenders
>just let Joe Estevez wander around doing mumbled improv with a puppetwhy
Like, you know what's one of the worst movies ever made but will never be one of the worst movies ever made? This.
There's zero budget, zero acting talent, special effects are mannequin limbs dripped in ketchup and literal .gif clipart, the inexplicably psychic and teleporting Sasquatch only makes one "guy doing a lawnmower impression" noise on a constant loop, the Native American Shaman is clearly a hispanic woman who knows less about Native American customs than I do, and the credits song is the writer/director's mom singing in falsetto about the sacred connection of all life.
It's a masterpiece, you could watch it a dozen fucking times and not get bored.
>>212059845This one is up there too, but its so baffling and weird you're trying to figure out what the fuck were they thinking? Again: BORING AS HELL.
>>212073467I LOVE Suburban Sasquatch and other David Wascavage films. At least they have something memorable to them.
But THIS ONE. It has Alec Baldwin and Englund - one of the only movies i've ever shut off mid view. It turned into some weird soft-porn mind control psychic sex stuff in the middle? And the scenes took like fifteen minutes each. I'd just be rather watchin normal porno than feeling second hand embaressment!
>>212060690This isn't a "good" movie but I'll give it points for being so unique. McCarthy's style is completely jarring when acted out by human beings but they made the bold choice to not water any of it down.

Unironically one of the worst movies ever made. Whiplash. The fact that it's the most beloved movie of the '10s (in NA at least) contributes to its distastefulness. The worst part is you're kind of set up to think both of those things are something that will pan out if you invest your time, when you slowly start to lose that sentiment every minute you spend on it. >>212093454>At one point Adam Driver and Bill Murray get surrounded by zombies and start thumbing through the script of the movie to see if this is the part they die inThat's a joke and the type of thing I meant when I said it's like Waiting for Godot. It's like a Samuel Beckett play but there are zombies.
>Tilda Swinton gets on a UFO and leaves the movieIt's absurdist, anon. She's an alien that has been living among humans for however long and just nonchalantly gets into a UFO and leaves because the world is ending.
