I liked the actress but she should've been cast from the start. It was dumb not to pay Jadzia for a single fucking season, literally one year. Just pay her for fuck's sake.

Introducing a new character on the final season was such a waste of real estate. They had to give her like 5 focus episodes and way more screen time than the other characters just so she had some kind of fucking story and it was just a lame romantic thing.
The only people who defend the character's existence are waifufags which should tell you everything you need to know.

It's also a dramatic half-measure to kill the host and not the symbiote

they should've made the symbiote die, all of those centuries lost, that might've had an impact but bringing in a new Dax was just weird, it was like Jadzia was living on in a weird way.
It wasn't narratively satisfying

I posted this on the first Trek thread today but to say again:

The only Star Trek I have ever seen in my life has been in the last two months. Apart from that I have never watched any Trek media of any kind:

Star Trek The Motion Picture [Five Stars, one of the best movies I have ever seen]

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan [Five Stars, one of the best action/adventure movies I have ever seen]

Why didn't someone tell me Star Trek was actually good??

One of the worst things a show can do, especially near the end, is bring on a replacement character that offers nothing new to the dynamic. Ezri is a boring and forgettable replacement character. The writers clearly didnโ€™t want to write a new character so they put out a casting call for someone who could fill Jadziaโ€™s uniform. Lazy. Shouldโ€™ve gone in a completely different direction.

At bare minimum it's a concession to even get the Maquis to play along. If Janeway domed Chakotay instantly, on top of Tuvok being a spy, the rest of his crew would most certainly never agree to work with Voyager losing a massive potential talent pool. Adding Seska into the mix, she'd assuredly seize control of the Maquis cell and dive headfirst into full on villainy

I highly recommend this kino for anyone who's interested.
It's about the Cardie kid, Rugal Pa'dar, the one who was raised by filthy Bajorans and taught to hate himself. The one who bit Garak. Sisko sends him back to live with the proper family he never knew, on Cardassia.
It gives a unique perspective on all the crazy shit that Cardassia would go through for the next six years - the political upheavals, the fall of the Obsidian Order, the Dominion occupation, and the eventual spoonocaust.

The other jumped me. We struggled. One of the women threw me a phaser, and I fired. The phaser was set at maximum. The man just incinerated, there before my eyes. I'd never killed anything before. Star Trek should be completely rebooted with a brand new universe of characters and stories. The only thing constant should be the Enterprise and a mission of exploration amongst the stars. No Kirk, no Vulcans, no Klingons, none of it. Just the TOS and TNG aesthetics and storytelling not bogged down by decades of lore.

True

The best Nu Trek has to offer is S3 of Picard which is just weak nostalgiabait for casuals who are too dumb to realize that none of the characters in the show even act like themselves. Stewart can't do the Picard voice anymore, there is no military bearing, it's just a bunch of grey-headed old friends off to save the galaxy. It's the TNG cast flanderized to the maximum and cast in the story of a bad TOS film and somehow it's celebrated as a good thing just because of what it's being compared to.

Star Trek has a long-standing policy of not hiring fans to work on the show. There's too much trouble with "purity" and other defiance of the chain of command. Your rant is a perfect example of why they have this policy.

No, you're just not a fan of Star Trek. You don't want Star Trek, you want something else -- but for some reason you parasitically latch onto the Star Trek fanbase and try to change it from one thing into another instead of just making something new.

Just go make a new The Expanse, or Babylon 5. A new IP.
The Orville is Star Trek with all of the lore dumped -- do you think it's better that way? Do you think The Orville would be a worse show if it was Star Trek and used familiar races and the Trek lore?
I personally think it'd be better

The way First Contact is shot and cast I'm fairly certain they just wanted to do a BOBW film and a film that had scenes with Zefram Cochrane in it and didn't really care how they got there. It's been years since I've seen it but I don't think they even establish how the Borg travel through time, the Borg sphere just sort of does it. The first Terminator had a similar issue which is why they established a few restrictions and it still deosn't really make sense.

She should've been brought on for season 6, have Jadzia die during the end of season 5 when cardassians take over DS9, i liked ezri but she needed more time to realy settle in with the crew. Also not a fan of her love triangle with Worf and Julian.

All of those extras were Trek fans as far as I know.

Plus, they made a huge painting showing the back of the Enterprise and spacedock to put in the windows running along the back wall of that scene, and then in the film you can barely see it with the people standing in front of it.

Yikes. Not a good look. Red boot laces is a hate symbol as listed on the ADL's website. It would be a shame if NuTrek got cancelled because of this.

>Within a few racist skinhead circles, white or red laces have to be "earned" by some violent act such as attacking a perceived enemy of the white race.

How did Chris Pine earn his?

But, in answer to your Q. They should remake The Royale as a feature flick.
