Heads up, they pay shit. I mean real bad. A buddy of mine is the head of a marketing team for an importing company and makes less than he did stocking shelves at target. The key to being a white dude in Japan is to have a work from home American job. Try to find a western job that will let you live there, rather than finding a job over there. Plus Japan still focuses on hiring their own, rather than a foreigner that just learned the language.

For the language, focus on speaking it. You'll hear that Japan is easy to speak and doesn't have the tones that other Asian languages do, but it does. It has a high and low pitch that can dictate what the word is. You really can't learn to speak it without a tutor. You'll think you have the right word, but you didn't accent it right, so instead it means something totally different. Accent is huge, and the only way to do it well is to basically be talk like a WW2 stereotype. It's really funny.

But yeah, don't go over there thinking it's better by default because it's Japan. People are people and women are women. They're more high trust, sure, but not to you because you're a foreigner.

Japan is FANTASTIC for short stays. Like 1 year. Any more and the cracks start forming. Go over there for student stuff, have a blast, then come back and get your life started for real.
