This is what all the copycats never understood about the concept, which is that the idea of a man approaching his 30s, in his room late at night stewing away in bitter regret over a horrible video game from his childhood, is inherently funny in a relatable, yet tragic and absurd way. The atmosphere is just palpable, it's just *chef's kiss*. I often find myself ruminating over what a horrible game DK64 was, and what a waste of childhood it was to play it, and it genuinely bothers me when I see people defend it. I haven't even played it since I was a kid. Why do I still seethe over shit like this? What is my life even? Seriously, fuck that game.

It was more like nerd culture/video game centered comedy sketches more than game reviews, but one of their videos was reviewing the edgiest games made and they reviewed Ethnic Cleansing. This was a shitty FPS made by neo-nazis in the early 2000s where you play as a skin head and shoot black people and jews.

Silvermania broke up though (it was all "the slobs" as they are referred to in AVGN). One of their guys, an older guy they just got to be in videos because he would say crazy shit, was arrested in a pedophile sting operation. Soon after, the like other main guy behind the project left to do editing work for a big hollywood studio I think, and then Justin just stopped making videos.

Nono, not at all, it's just subtle and understated. It is the perfect episode to highlight the sheer absurdity it is to play old irrelevant video games that do nothing but piss you off. He has no attachment to the game, it's unlicensed, beyond obscure, and the developers didn't even finish the game and rushed it out. No love or care was put into this whatsoever when it was made decades ago. There is absolutely nothing to gain by playing Little Red Hood on the NES, no nostalgia, no infamy, just pure waste. The gradual increase in anger, from bewilderment at the start to boiling rage at the end is comletely seamless. My favorite line in the video, asides from maybe the frothy sound of crackling ass, is after his final last angry rant he just exclaims "And I'm still playing! I don't know why. I guess I just can't resist being able to say I beat Little Red Hood." It's pretty much a modern day version of the myth of Sisyphus. It's subtle, it's comfy, it's quintessential. It's kino.
