Final Destination 3 is probably the best one in terms of balancing gory setpieces to decent effects. The first film is a little more tame, and the fourth film used too much ugly digital effects and 3D gimmickry, making it easily the worst in the series. The fifth is also solid albeit with a weaker leader than MEW. Haven't seen Bloodlines yet.

I don't really recall the second one outside of it having the best "mass death event", I wonder if I never actually saw it other than clips.

The Thing prequel is killed by the retarded decision to replace the impressive special effects by ADI with unconvincing CGI. But MEW is as you'd expect, cute as hell in it.
