It's a complete myth that women can equal a man in a competition of strength.
It's why even to this very day there are weight divisions among men because basic biology dictates that a heavier more muscular man will obliterate a smaller weaker man.

Now take this example from heavier to lighter men, and you take it to the sexes and men will always have an innate advantage against women, even average men can outperform physically trained and physically strong women.

Those schlubby average men out perform the phyically trained and fit women because you can't beat biology.
Men have denser bones, larger muscle mass, we have testosterone.
It's why Nasa when it chose astronauts for it's Apollo programme women were not even remotely considered due to the biological factors not because of mental prowess but because of the effects of low and zero g has on the human body, which to a woman because of the lower bone density is far greater than on a man.
It's why the first person to step on to Mars will be a Man, it's not because of sexism it is simply biology.
In short Romans knew this, the Greeks knew this, all of human history we have known this from the earliest Hunter gather tribes, men would hunt women would gather.
It isn't to say one is better than the other, it's to say we both men and women have defined characteristics, that are better are tasks that the other is not.
I couldn't give birth, even if I had the biological capability, I'm in awe that women can go through all that for 9 months and then the process of birth itself, it's amazing to me and I deeply appreciate any women who goes through that.
