The concept that fucking Cameron of all people are being presented as some kind of auteur is actually laughable. Like sure his films were interesting but they weren't exactly visionary in the way they were shot or written.

Aliens and terminator 2 both borrowed from original concepts. Avatar is just a mid-series star trek plotline with a modern film budget, Titanic is propped up entirely by roastie hags and their faggy enablers etc.

Nolan in comparison is as Michaelangelo to Cameron's Damien Hirst.

I'm not a Cameron simp but Nolan is a mediocre director. All his dialog scenes are the most boring shot-reverse-shots, he doesn't know how to creatively block actors and he cuts way too fast. His only saving grace is his meticulous focus on VFX, which look great on IMAX. Of course Cameron has his own faults, namely Avatar.

You're not getting what I'm saying. The movie focuses on things in Oppenheimer's life affected by the bomb and his own character rather than the bomb and its effect on the world. People complaining that the bomb got less focus than Oppenheimer didn't understand what they were going into. I knew going in it was gonna mostly be about him because I knew the history of him how he was treated by the US government.

he whining about nukes is so hilarious. Japan was an aggressive state that invaded and occupied Korea (1910โ€“1945), China (starting with the invasion of Manchuria in 1931 and the full-scale war from 1937), the Philippines (1941โ€“1945), and Indonesia (1942โ€“1945). During these occupations, Japan committed numerous atrocities, including the Nanjing Massacre in 1937 where an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 civilians and prisoners of war were killed, the forced labor and sexual slavery of โ€œcomfort women,โ€ and horrific human experiments conducted by Unit 731, a covert biological and chemical warfare research unit responsible for the deaths of thousands.

Christopher Nolan is a mainstream hack whose true trick is to make dumb people feel clever. The Dark Knight was filled with exposition to lay out the motivating philosophy so plainly that anyone could understand. Oppenheimer was a ponderous bore whose absence of consequence was supposed to say something in the exploration of Oppenheimer himself but ultimately it had nothing interesting to say beside being a dull biopic. (And the fact he tricked a bunch of normies into seeing it at IMAX is hilarious.)

Meanwhile James Cameron, who really built the modern action movie genre, has proceeded into making Avatar movies for the fucking Chinese/International market that are pure unadulterated slop, wholesale ripping off ideas from places.

Makes sense seeing how Oppenheimer never witness the actual bombings or visited Hiroshima or Nagasaki afterwards. He already understood what it would do and was questioning his morals in helping make it in the first place. Again, it's not about the bomb itself but the man who made it and the events his life that lead to making the bomb and how that effect his life afterwards like how his past communist sympathies made him a major risk in the eyes of the second wave Red Scare America.

Cameron is 100% right. Oppenheimer is a cowardly movie which doesn't take a stance and plays it extremely safe.

>this great man was le conflicted and complex and deep

It lacks any sort of emotional depth and skirts about the atomic bombings without actually addressing them.

It's also extremely boring and pretentious, everybody that has seen it was bored to death but hipsters pretend to enjoy it because it's "deep", it's the English Patient all over again.

What? It constantly portrays the military and government as corrupt and using everyone for their own means like how he was used by the government and thrown to the side when it suited them. The movie has multiple people say this directly to Oppenheimer's face and the whole movie peaks with him having to defend himself against the NWO he helped create. The end of WW2 now brought about the Second Red Scare and beginning of the Cold War and his commie sympathies of the past made him a huge target when it got out the Russians had moles in the Manhattan Project. He gave them the bomb and was no longer needed, especially with his anti-nuke mentality and leftist thinking which in their minds was anti-America. He was a risk in their minds. Even the general who originally picked him states he wouldn't have selected him using the new methods.

the movie is about Oppenheimer. After the bombs are dropped on Japan he basically has an existential crisis about what he helped create. The movie wasn't about the bombings.
