The traditional milestones of life (buy a house, build a career, have kids etc) have been massively pushed back or eroded completely so people are infantalised to a massive degree and fall back on the blanket of comfort or nostalgia.
Boomers had 21% of the wealth by proportion when they hit the age of 40, Gen Xers had 9% when they hit 40 and Millenials now have only 4%. This represents how the older generations control the assets so younger people can never create a stable environment. People were told teenage pregnancy was wrong and to have a stable life; now people moan the younger generation doesn't have enough kids. People moaned about anti-social drinking; now they moan people don't drink enough and bars are closing. People told kids to get a degree; now they laugh that the degrees are useless.
Accelerationism is how modern society is moving at a fast pace and it is very difficult to adapt to it because society and technology have moved on. Your parents and their parents adapted to a world that doesn't exist anymore and they failed to teach you a multitude of things and then laugh and mock you for it. The generational warfare of the old attacking the young has created this situation.
So we are stuck in arrested development, where people cannot move and progress. It doesn't help that so many people had shitty parents that never taught them the basics of running a household or progressing in life.
So now we just get people excited for childish slop.
