What is the biggest drop-off in quality a sequel has ever had, compared to the immediate previous film?
>>212123462 (OP)Who is this stunning beauty??
>>212123462 (OP)Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
>>212123462 (OP)toxic avenger part 2 fuckin' sucked
>>212123462 (OP)A Nightmare on Elm Street 1 to 2
>>212123462 (OP)Exorcist 2. The first one set box-office records, and was a major Oscar contender, and then Exorcist 2 came along and was immediately pulled from theaters for re-editing after it got such a negative reaction.
>>212125582Something or other about crickets.
>>212123462 (OP)Well, it seems Fall 2 won't have Grace Caroline Curvy, so there's that.
>>212125706Wasn't she confirmed for returning? Somehow winding up on another tall thing.

Probably this. Jurassic World 2 was like a 4/10. This was a -4/10.
>>212125707Outside Captain Marvel 2 has there been a bigger financial drop off for. sequel
Sinister 1 to 2 was pretty rough
>>212125771I got a tall thing for her to end up on
>>212125771Yes, but according to Insta, filming has came and went (in Thailand apparently) and Grace was nowhere to be found. Harriet Slater was there, though.
>>212123462 (OP)The Blair Witch Project 2
>>212123462 (OP)Sequels
Donnie Darko
American Psycho
Phantom Menace
Joker
Coming to America (possibly the worst itt)
Kickboxer
Lost Boys
Christmas Vacation
Independence Day
The Mask
Repo Man
>>212125771>>212125706Isn't she in Fall 3? They planned 2. Sad if not.
>>212125893damn
wall street 2: money never sleeps was cringe, not terrible, but shia in a sequel is death
>>212125893>tastelessWell, the tagline sure is accurate.
>>212123462 (OP)Sin City 2 hurt to watch.
>>212131355Where was he vacationing this time?
>>212123800blew my mind when i found out jarhead had not just a sequel, but several. where did they even go with it? the first movie was based on a memoir of the same name, and they covered everything already.
These two aren't the worst in the thread, but they deserve a mention:
Pulse (2006) was a cool, moody horror movie about phone ghosts.
Pulse 2 was moodcore in the horror arc bullshit.
>What if, like... a person just died all the sudden and fell on their and they had to walk around them? Woah... horror mood...
It was fucking garbage. Like they didn't even use a script, just a bunch of 'what if' scenes.
Smoking Aces was mediocre to begin with but the sequel was straight up garbage. The director couldn't even remember whether the movie should be in the roarin 20's or in current day.
>>212131562They became generic war action films full of explosions and shootouts. Despite Jarhead the film being about how tedious and mindnumbing 90% of active deployment is.
Final Destination 3 to The Final Destination
>>212128726>>212127386Perhaps, but they have to finish and release Fall 2 first.
Men in Black II was pretty bad. It's the worst type of sequel, the type that just undoes everything that happened in the previous movie. Kay has his happy ending taken away from him, Jay goes back to acting like a rookie, Elle doesn't even show up and gets written out in a quick throwaway line.
>>212123738FPBP
I didn't even think of it, I try that hard to keep it out of my mind completely.
>>212123462 (OP)How the fuck did nobody mentioned pic related yet? Literally so fucking bad it outright killed an IP that was going strong for nearly half a century.
>>212138105Good candidate. I still think Highlander 2 is a more severe drop-off because it took most of what was established by the first film and just threw it out the window. MK Annihilation wasn't quite so disrespectful of its predecessor, although it's terrible in almost every other way. I did appreciate the Sonia mud wrestling scene though
>>212138266I ctrl+f'd for highlander as soon as i entered the thread
>>212138224I kind of doesn't feel like a proper sequel because it was made so long after the movie it's a follow-up to and there were three other movies in between the first trilogy and the sequel trilogy.
Now that I think about it, has any other franchise sandwiched multiple prequels between sequels? That's fucking weird, right?
>>212125706Fall 2 could have just been her taking a shower, sitting by a pool, and taking a nap for 90 minutes and it would make more money than whatever theyโre actually making will.
Generic direct to video action/explosions trash. Which is insane as the first an autobiography about a guy who went to war and did nothing and never saw combat.

>>212123462 (OP)Snyder's DotD/Army of the Dead
>>212123462 (OP)Any shit that was supposed to be a standalone movie but got slapped with the sequel label to coattail the success of the original
Example: american psycho 2
>>212123738So much better than the first movie, pleb
>>212130005At least we got some Eva Green titties though.
>>212123785Lana Rhodes, before getting bogged.
>>212130005I donโt even know how it was fucked up so badly. They had the comics to follow. They had their visual formula. It should have been an easy smash hit.
>>212141035I heard that it was because they wanted to save the best comics for the third one
and because Frank Miller was sick, so they made him write new stories for the pay or something
>>212141112that was pretty entertaining
>>212128369scarier than the first one
>>212141194Have you watched the series? Awfully written, awfully acted, but I was kind of disappointed when it was cancelled.
>>212123462 (OP)Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, which was made even worse by the fact it had the same director and came out more than a decade after the original and THAT was what he came up with.
>>212138224>it outright killedit's literally the highest grossing domestic film of all time
>>212123462 (OP)Easily this. I'm sure there's others but this was what popped into my head immediately.
>>212125582Exorcist 2 is great. Absolute kino if you will. At the time movie goers and "critics" expected to see another Exorcist but were treated to a completely different movie and this confused and angered them. So they lashed out.
>>212143403Are you thinking about 3? Exorcist 2 is fucking awful, anon.
>>212138487bruh you don't know what bogged lips look like
neverending story 2, pretty odd the sequl got the money and prodution values but failed in every aspect compared to the beloved original, but yet they made a third
>>212125706They should just have her fall on those fat tits and just bounce back on her feet anticlimactically. That would be a good ending.
>>212143420Thanks for confirming. Enjoy barking with the pack.
>>212143447Exorcist 3 is okay. A paint by the numbers Hollwood late 80's jump scare flick. It's fine for what it is.

Why did this even happen?
Smokey II is just a character assassination
>>212146524Boyega thought he was totally a leading man and producer because The Force Awakens was a megahit. The only lasting impact of this film was introducing us to Cailee.
>>212146391Well, they didn't make it searchable, so I didn't see it at the time.
>>212123738cool poster ngl, the 90s was truly the golden age of media
There's shitloads of terrible cash grab sequels that have absolutely nothing to do with the original one aside from the name.
I assume because who the fuck actually watches those.
>>212146524>>212146540they had the script for that movie from Guillermo ( or he helped,?)
and then Guillermo left to do shape of water
so boyega took it upon himself to produce
>>212143076I had no idea this even happened.
>>212149482it was aco completely different script movie that got reworked to be a sequel.
it had nothing to do with the first one
>>212149617Many such cases. Such as...almost every single Die Hard sequel. They all started as unrelated works reworked into Die Hard sequels. Die Hard 2 is adapted from an unrelated novel, 58 Minutes, Die Hard with a Vengeance started as an unrelated thriller script titled Simon Says, Live Free or Die Hard started as an unrelated action script titled WW3.com. A Good Day to Die Hard seems to have been the only one to start life as a Die Hard sequel. There were actual intended Die Hard sequels developed but never made.
>>212150706>Die Hard 2 is adapted from an unrelated novelTechnically yeah but it only got turned into a movie because they wanted to make a Die Hard sequel and set out to find a book that would work as a good basis.
>>212143403This so much this. Nobody hated Exorcist 2 until the Plinkett Reviews brainwashed them.
>>212143076I think this is the first poster where Mila does not look like Liz Gillies to me.
>>212149312The first movie wasn't any good either.
>>212151662lol have an upvote, fellow redditor.
>>212138645For me it was Jarhead 3: The Siege - Extra Explosive Cut
