These two aren't the worst in the thread, but they deserve a mention:
Pulse (2006) was a cool, moody horror movie about phone ghosts.
Pulse 2 was moodcore in the horror arc bullshit.
>What if, like... a person just died all the sudden and fell on their and they had to walk around them? Woah... horror mood...
It was fucking garbage. Like they didn't even use a script, just a bunch of 'what if' scenes.
Smoking Aces was mediocre to begin with but the sequel was straight up garbage. The director couldn't even remember whether the movie should be in the roarin 20's or in current day.

Men in Black II was pretty bad. It's the worst type of sequel, the type that just undoes everything that happened in the previous movie. Kay has his happy ending taken away from him, Jay goes back to acting like a rookie, Elle doesn't even show up and gets written out in a quick throwaway line.

Good candidate. I still think Highlander 2 is a more severe drop-off because it took most of what was established by the first film and just threw it out the window. MK Annihilation wasn't quite so disrespectful of its predecessor, although it's terrible in almost every other way. I did appreciate the Sonia mud wrestling scene though

I kind of doesn't feel like a proper sequel because it was made so long after the movie it's a follow-up to and there were three other movies in between the first trilogy and the sequel trilogy.
Now that I think about it, has any other franchise sandwiched multiple prequels between sequels? That's fucking weird, right?

Many such cases. Such as...almost every single Die Hard sequel. They all started as unrelated works reworked into Die Hard sequels. Die Hard 2 is adapted from an unrelated novel, 58 Minutes, Die Hard with a Vengeance started as an unrelated thriller script titled Simon Says, Live Free or Die Hard started as an unrelated action script titled WW3.com. A Good Day to Die Hard seems to have been the only one to start life as a Die Hard sequel. There were actual intended Die Hard sequels developed but never made.
