I both wish they had made this a series and simultaneously am glad they didn't
hopefully they never do a satirical reboot of it with niggers, lesbians, and trannies to critique masculinity and colonialism

Peter Weir was never the type of director to make a million sequels and I don't want to watch a sequel made by anyone else

Just checked. It was eight films covering three of the ten novels. Ran from Oct 98 to Jan 2003. Master was released in Nov of that year. I 'member watching it as a kid and actually preferred it to Sharpe. Landlubbers can't compete.

there are so many patrick o'brian novels in that universe completely ripe for the picking. would be perfect for a television series. but deep down in my heart of hearts, i know that it would be completely butchered by netflix, hulu, prime, or apple. i secretly hope they just leave it alone

I really like this movie however I must say I really dislike they posit British nationalism as basically a reactionary anti French sentiment.
