>He's old school.
Precisely and we agree. To be fair to 1960s writing, he is, genuinely, a good character and I do like him. Usually. But also holy SHIT he's annoying if anything "medical" actually becomes a plot point. And his humor rests on being a DICK (like most doctors in any media). "Don't question ME about YOUR health! I'm right, you're wrong, and arguing anything else is beyond retarded and makes me vomit!" Ironic, since he often finds himself in situations were the "best" medical choice isn't possible and while the circumstances inherently FORCES him to make concessions, luckily the plot gives him SuperPill and Might Machine that solves everything lickety-split! Because he used CureAll and SolvesEverything, he is clearly a genius doctor!

He goes around mocking 1980s physicians for using the most modern techniques possible for their time, slanders them for "trying" the lowest risk option available, and then removes them from all actions while simultaneously verifying they were 100% correct in determining "cause of illness" but solving the issue with an undefined toy that makes sounds and restores conditions in 7 seconds after pushing a button (a device that cannot possible exist in 1980).
What a splendid, understanding man!
