I actually decided to read the book last night and I make an effort to imagine the characters differently unless the actor fits really well, and I way prefer Katniss as this actually scrawny/boney tanned girl with a 1000 yard stare. Jennifer Lawrence is shit anyhow (I don't know why the early-mid 2010's had a JLmania going on) and it's funny how her, Hemsworth, etc. are looking well fed and plump as fuck.

Books can give exposition more easily than a movie so it mentions how past Victors won by winning scheming masterminds, i.e. pretending to be a weak snivelling coward in the build up so nobody takes them seriously until revealing their true colors during the Games and blind side everyone by being a vicious killer. All of Peeta's acts of kindness that come natural to him are interpreted by Katniss to be him trying to lull her into a false sense of security or to win the crowd over, etc. She paints him as a Machivallian 300 IQ Gigachad chessmaster when in reality he's a baker's son out of his depth and only being himself

There is a scene in the first book where the gamemaker announced the rule changed and only one winner, instead of a couple from the same district, would leave the arena, so Peeta lowered his hand and Katniss instinctively drew her last arrow to kill him.
The trilogy is shit, it only works when you're a kid or an angry teen, go watch the ballad of songbirds and snakes if you actually want some hunger games kino.

I don't know why this movie got shit on, I enjoyed it. Sure the spic with the eyes singing a bit too much got annoying but otherwise I was fine and they obviously weren't ruled by political bs seeing as how the most evil person in the whole movie who is also clinically insane was played by Viola Davis (and she probably loved the role too, they are probably the most fun)

This movie hits different. I don't listen to music (nothing against it, I'm just not used to it) and I don't like musicals, but, somehow, I loved it. Yeah, maybe the girl sings too many times, but it makes sense because she's actually a singer who was thrown into the arena and had to sing her way out of it. It also makes the opposition: Lucy Gray (a singer, from the districts) leads people by singing while Snow (a politician, from the Capitol) leads people by talking.
