>>212156551 (OP)The best Bond film is still Goldeneye.
Goldfinger, Spy Who Loved Me, License to Kill, and Casino are the other actors' best films and theyre all pretty great in their own right, but Goldeneye has them all still beat and there's a bit of a gap even if we're being honest.
Oh, and don't ever let Lazenby Appologists convince you his movie is anything special. It is easily the single most overrated film in the series. The man literally can't act and the screenplay is retarded.
The worst Bond film is Moonraker unless we're counting the unofficial films in which case it's the original 60s Casino Royale.
And just for good measure since I mentioned the most overrated, the most underrated is either Quantum of Solace or Golden Gun. Although /tv/ also will do this thing where they underrate Skyfall a ton because incels think it makes them look cool to hate something general audiences really liked.

Live And Let Die is one where some people say it's their favorite. and I get it. LALD has a lot of flavor. it's got the most and best henchmen and side characters. but there's also not much to the movie. any time I rank them for a thread, it ends up kinda low because I like almost all of the other ones better.
Thunderball and LALD are fine. They're in the rotation of Bond movies, but every time it's one of their turns I go in thinking "maybe it'll really click this time"
in Thunderball's case I like it a little better because the better you know the movie, the better your mind can impose some structure upon it. It's no longer "Bond hangs out by the beach and eventually saves the day"
>>212165066>GoldenEye is the most overrated and it's not even close.Thinknwhat you want about Goldeneye as a movie, but in 2025 it is nowhere near as universally celebrated as it used to be.

>>212170005I didnt imply Skyfall was a masterpiece.
I said ranking it as shit is just an easy way to get written off as being forcefully contrarian. It's still a beautifully shot movie and it's at least a whole tier better than the other Craig sequels and if we're being honest the second half of Brosnan's tenure.
>>212170095Moore bats 50% at best and that's assuming you can look past him being ancient in View.

But it should be YOLT. Not that it's necessarily the best (I do rank it very high and above Goldfinger) but that it's got it all. Also it's during peak Bond. This isn't the franchise reinventing itself or evolving with the times. This is while Bond was the biggest thing in the world, and was living up to all of its hype. It's especially got all the stuff that "didn't age well" which makes it better and even more Bondy.
It's got Q bringing Bond Little Nelly, and then Tiger has his own "Q" scene showing Bond all the gadgets in his ninja training school.
It's got the volcano lair that younger people will recognize as the Hank Scorpio lair from the Simpsons.
It's got the Blofeld that most resembles Dr. Evil, and all the stuff that you see parodied. And when you see the real thing doing it straight faced, it kicks total ass.
