Because that's reality
I don't consider this movie political, at all, because it isn't. Sad as it is Josh Pearce does represent the average young adult guy in London (lol @ the Yoo-Kay). But never once did it ever come down to "I'm black and you're white!" The message was always "I'm the old cowboy who's seen it all" vs. "I'm the rookie hotshot who knows better" and that's always fun.

I'm actually an aerospace engineer and my biggest problems with the engineering scenes are how they portrayed simulating turbulent airflow and dust as groundbreaking innovations when there are literally software packages you can use to do that

Most people wouldn't know. I assume meteorologist also had an opinion on Twisters. I mean, as a Gladiator, I was bothered by the fact that people weren't nude in the movies.
