There are so many bad episodes of TNG for real. I'm gonna have to take a break after this before VOY & ENT. Most of TOS & DS9 was better than most of this.
>>212174382Most of TNG's filler are in Seasons 1, 5 and 7 is probably the worst. In a lot of season 6 episodes you can tell Sir Patrick Stewart is completely checked out too. Season 2 of TOS has a lot of weird episodes too though, and season 3 speaks for itself despite a few standouts like Tholian Web or the one were Spock gets Romulan poon.
>>212172783 (OP)This is the most unhinged episode of TOS so far
Spock is like a cartoon character and almost dies like five times and nobody cares, there's exploding rocks everywhere, half the away team dies and Chekov tries to make out with the Yeoman who throws around 6 foot tall jungle men
I laughed my ass off when the guy runs through the jungle like a five year old and steps on the exploding rock
This is why they need the Prime Directive

I think holographic technology is a can of worms. When you make a new proper trek show set in the 25th century there is no reason not to have holograms everywhere.
>holographic tricorder
>can morph into a medical tricorder or a phaser, a phaser rifle, a padd etc.
>holographic uniforms that can become pressure suits or environmental suits or camo
>holographic interiors
>holographic labs or sickbays where the equipment can appear or change to whatever you need
>holographic doors/walls
>>212176755>holographic uniforms>walk around naked jerking myself off>holo projector makes it look like I have a full head of hair

why do they call it the romulan neutral zone when it's more like a DMZ? neutral zone to me would imply a region that anyone can navigate.

>>212184913>>212184937Yeah but they definitely mated like Klingons in the holodeck. He definitely knew about Klingon women so the writing deficiency in this DS9 episode still stands. well?
Is Brave New Worlds watchable or is it nutrek garbage?
I saw a single clip and it looked OK, even though there were two niggers on screen. But its associated with STD, right?
>>212185314>how dare you call someone using a nu trek image a nu trek viewer! Are you perhaps blind, illiterate, or retarded? All three? Must be a Nu Trek viewer.
>>212185340Vulcan>everything
>>212185341No, it's complete utter reprehensible garbage-tier shit. If STD is a 2, SNW is a 2.5. And that's just rating them both on a "science fiction show" scale -- neither are Star Trek, neither have the military professionalism, the focus on tight storytelling, neither of them are particularly well-cast or well-acted.
>>212185340Selar, no contest
>>212185341It shakes off STD as quickly as it can.
At its best it feels like early season Stargate or good Buffy, it's goofy and plays with genre. At its worst it feels like late season Stargate or bad Buffy. (ad astra is a stinker). Some people dislike the genre play (crossovers, musicals) im personally ok with it. What irks me is that it's the only trek that actually adapts real scifi stories (le guin, etc) but won't credit them. They want to be sexy so they have a thing between Spock and Chapel. Which means they're, imo, a separate canon or trying to soft retcon all of TOS.
Bottom line: you'll probably like some and hate some of it, it might be entertaining but it's a different mood/tone/"vibe" than TOS. act accordingly
>>212185341Strange New Worlds is the best nutrek but that isn't saying much.
STD is awful. SPIC1 and SPIC2 are awful. SPIC3 is only "watchable" because it's nostalgia bait that somewhat removes the bad taste of SPIC1/SPIC2. It would be better if the entire show never existed.
I'd put SNW between VOY and ENT. It has some of the old school planet of the weak and exploration stories and not too much melodrama.
If I had to rate them all it would be
>TOS 8>TNG 9.5>DS9 10>VOY 5>ENT 6>STD 0>SPIC S1/S2 -99999999999999999>SPIC S3 3>SNW 5.5
>>212185343>how dare someone just randomly binging an image and picking the first search result be an endorsement of nutreknot all of us have autistically curated reaction folders, some of us just get images ad hoc
>>212185444>At its best it feels like early season Stargate or good Buffy, it's goofy and plays with genreImagine being so gay that you say this about a Star Trek show like it's a good thing.
>>212185474Kill yourself
>>212185484>oh it's totally organic!Kill yourself.
>>212185474>SPIC3 is only "watchable" because it's nostalgia bait that somewhat removes the bad taste of SPIC1/SPIC2. It would be better if the entire show never existed.I don't disagree with you but I feel the non-picard characters act more natural than in nemesis, and therefore it is a better conclusion of their arcs for me than nemesis. That's a personal opinion that I reached after watching, I would not recommend someone watch it solely in the hope of finding a better sendoff than Nemesis.
people who dislike early season stargate are plebs who got filtered by kino
>>212185539no you're a massive faggot for putting SG1 and Buffy in the same sentence though
Worfs "magically control Quarks body" technology thing just broke off kek. I get that it's necessary but it was so cheap. Just a little firework and it fell off kek. Overall though this is an enjoyable episode, I give Looking for Parmach in All the Wrong Places a solid 7/10. It's well done because you can tell Jadzia likes Worf but he's got no clue. She plays it well. Also I like seeing Grilkas old House Steward guy again he plays a great Klingon. This is after viewing VOY: The Swarm, which had a silly ending and the first really blatant Janeway example of her saying "Fuck the federation rules let's fly through their space anyway." Pretty silly of the Swarm race to have their ships all interlinked like that. Zap one of them and they all go down.

Wanting to get into Star Trek properly for the first time only having watched the Abrams movies before. I really want to get that gritty war veteran writing style instead of the impulsive and rebellious themes in NuTrek, do I watch the original show by episode numbering or original US broadcast date? And how do the original six movies compare do I watch them after the three seasons?
>>212185565shame that is the last appearance of Grilka so I'm glad you enjoyed it, she was a great character shame they never brought her back
>>212185524I too would prefer having herpes to cancer. It's still not an endorsement of herpes though
>>212185374>>212185444Sounds pretty. I'm not bored enough to watch that shit, I guess.
>>212185474>ENT 6>SNW 5.5That almost makes me want to check it out
I kinda liked ENT, but I also watched it during the (((pandemic))) where any stimuli was a God send. I can't image watching STD or PIC outside Youtube vids talking about how bad they are.
>>212185632I'd watch them by broadcast date but I would watch The Cage first as a separate thing. It's not exactly like what follows but it's still important.
As for the movies, the TOS movies are like exaggerations and flanderizations of their TOS character counterparts. But for all of that, they are still wildly entertaining. They get by on massive amounts of charm and charisma.
Only the first one really feels like a Star Trek episode though.
>>212185632I find it somewhat disingenuous that you "only" saw the JJ movies but still use terms like "NuTrek," but whatever; the answer is always watch it in order
>>212185641Some actors just really have a knack for playing convincing Klingons. Grilka is one of the best for sure.
>>212185657If you watch SNW and are expecting anything approaching a 5, you're going to want to hunt down that anon and murder him in real life.
>>212185474Oh, you ranked DS9 higher than TNG. didn't see that. Opinion disregarded.
>>212185657>>212185698I'll admit I'm biased on ENT because I think seasons 1 and 2 were 7 or 8/10 and then the rewrite/desperate chase for ratings in the later seasons tanked the show for me.
So SNW is still considerably worse than ENT at its best, but better than Voyager
>>212185632the episode order in TOS can be a fucking mess use this pay no attention to the rating part but the episodes are in the right order, watching the cage first is optional maybe leave it and watch between s1 and 2 otherwise the menagerie 2 parter will seem like a clip show
>>212185749>better than VOYNo, it isn't. SNW isn't even Star Trek -- it's not written like Star Trek, there are no great one-off episodic stories like Star Trek. It's not written with military diction -- everybody talks like an annoying fucking millennial in an officer that has bean bag chairs. In some ways, it's worse than STD because it wears more of a Star Trek skin. It's like that episode in S1 of TNG where host bodies are being controlled by parasites and that guy's head fucking explodes. SNW is like a zombie Star Trek with some alien creature inside: just another shitty generic 2025 """sci-fi""" show with a recognizable brand label slapped on its side.
Fuck you.

At 0800 hours, station time, the Romulan Empire formally declared war against the Dominion. They've already struck fifteen bases along the Cardassian border. So, this is a huge victory for the good guys! This may even be the turning point of the entire war! There's even a "Welcome to the Fight" party tonight in the wardroom! So, I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But most damning of all? I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would.

The entire concept of the "the burn" makes zero sense, because Romulans already developed quantum singularity cores, so while the total loss of M/AM infrastructure would be devastating, it wouldn't just shut the galaxy down. If they wanted to do a 'warp drive doesn't work anymore' story, the TNG episode about warp drive tearing up subspace would have worked fine, as would something to do with the omega particle from Voyager, or even just Q fuckery. >>212188251No, I hate nu-Trek because it is a continuation of the decline that began with VOY. TNG has more good episodes in any given season, except maybe season 1, than VOY has in the entire run. Chakotay in particular is egregiously shitty.

>>212185474I'd put SNW as at least
It's good but marred by some very modern Trek, Alex Kurtzman-induced flaws, like constant nostalgia-baiting, plots working on a superficial level but once you really think about them, them not working as well as you initially thought, the ship sometimes not 'feeling' like it's a mixed military/science vessel with a chain of command, and so on.
I do respect the hell out of it for doing different things with the LD crossover and the musical episode though.
>>212188251Innocence is a good episode but both you and the Nu Trek fags come off as unhinged.
>>212188251Voyager is just painfully mediocre compared to the 3 good trek series, and it wastes far too much of its opening potential to get much sympathy from me.
It is perfectly watchable for the most part but why not just watch TNG DS9 or TOS instead. Also I'd say its cast of characters are mostly subpar too. The Dr can only carry so much weight. There are indeed some great episodes, would be nice if we didn't have to wade through all the mediocre ones to get to them. Compared to nu trek though? Voyager is a shining beacon of scifi in comparison
>>212188113Nice try. What's next, an "Ooooh!" greentext? No one but you watches and shills that crap.
do you guys every do anything except argue about which series is best?
>>212188589personally I post about trek things I like and make lil webmemes
>>212188022Prodigy is the only decent NuTrek specifically because it doesn't have any woke nonsense in it. The boy and girl characters end up banging by the end. Chakotay and Janeway's relationship is full of romantic tension. The show is aggressively hetero.
In context of your show, I appreciate how Aaron Waltke's Twitter is just him being autistic over Star Trek canon, while Mike McMahan's Twitter is just endless seething over the orange man. It really encapsulates the attitudes of the two shows. One is a celebration of Star Trek made by genuine autists, and the other is screeching of a nostalgic woketard.
>>212188412>It is perfectly watchable for the most part but why not just watch TNG DS9 or TOS instead. This is a very casual question to ask.
What do you mean why? Because you've already watched all of those through at least 10 times, obviously, so why not watch something which, while a little worse, is still Star Trek and is much newer and fresher to your brain.
DUH.
>>212188589no we also argue about which waifu is best and which 2 parter is best, which season is best, which borg episode is best, which uniform is best, the possibilities are endless
>>212188641good way to put it, I'm 1/2 way through s7 of ds9 and I'm looking forward to Voy for a change of pace. I haven't seen it in ages also knowing I will be skipping the really bad eps helps
>>212188412>Compared to nu trek though? Voyager is a shining beacon of scifi in comparisonThis is what I'm saying. The nutrekker said Voyager had zero good episodes. He ranked SNW higher than Voyager. It's madness. Voyager is high quality science fiction. Maybe the cast isn't as well-loved as the TNG cast but they do their jobs well. What awful Voyager episodes do people list out? The boxing one and the salamander one. That's two obviously BAD episodes out of 7 seasons. If that's how we're judging then it's ahead of TNG. There we have shit season 1, Crusher fucks a ghost, Shades of Gray, and anything starring Geordi. Lets not pretend "Geordi tries to save his mommy" is some kind of all time science fiction standard. Voyager is so much better than it's reputation and even if it's not, I think we can ALL agree (except for the retard) that it's 70,000 light years ahead of SNW.
>>212188666are all the possibilities arguing?
>>212188589we make ai songs about the more autistic rants
>>212188723Yeah this is pretty much the standard approach
>>212188738>anything starring Geordi.I get what your saying but that is false geordi and the romulan stuck on the planet is really good, also his bhrams episodes are a lot of fun, out of phase is good, geordi gets more hate then he deserves
>>212188738I was watching the little documentary on my TNG bluray and when the writers were talking about how they were kinda running out of steam in s7 the editors put clips of the ghostfucker and Geordi's mom episodes over it kek
>>212188765You must be new to the Internet.
>>212188813I think I just hate Geordi a little more than average because shit to me he's equally as boring as Harry Kim. He does have some solid episodes though, thank you for reminding me of the Romulan one.
>>212188813Geordi gets one of TNG's best scenes when he's using the holodeck to investigate the mystery in Identity Crisis.
I'm not a Geordi hater but...
Harry Kim > Geordi
There, I said it.
>>212188829Yeah so I mean they are all pretty neck and neck. Relatively speaking RELATIVELY SPEAKING the ranking is like this, as if viewed from far away:
TOS=TNG=DS9=VOY=ENT > HUGE POWER GAP > everything nuTrek.
>>212188765no we can also discuss the intricacies of intersteller policy, if the maquis are really retarded they are and if dukat did anything wrong he didn't wait who am I kidding those are all arguments as well, at least we can all agree that the galaxy class is the best looking starship
>>212188880That scene always reminded me of the scene people point to in the original Blade Runner, (the "enhance" scene) in terms of boring. I can't imagine a normie enjoying Geordi meticulously tracking down shadows in a holodeck. It's a boring scene to me, but I guess I get where you're coming from. It is "sci fi."
>>212188946I gotta say nothing says "home" to me like the Constitution class. That bridge could either become cozy or become a pressure cooker. It was perfect. Galaxy class 2nd. Voyager ahead of Defiant and ENT ship whatever that class was.
I wish TOS had more Andorians. They're creepy and I like them
>>212189045ENT has the worst fucking ship and ship sets imaginable.
>polarize the hull platingI cringe every single time they say this. What a retarded fucking concept.
>>212188917As I'm rewatching Voyager, Harry Kim really isn't the worst. He's way more competent than Paris is. When you want to point at someone and say: "Starfleet Officer", Harry Kim embodies it decently.
>>212189045best looking, not 'home' that is the constitution class for me as well
>>212189068>polarize the hull plating>I cringe every single time they say this. What a retarded fucking concept. It's a charged thing to say, yes
>>212189000It's an encounter with the unknown, it's a very Star Trek thing.
>>212189000I'm a massive sucker for those holodeck reconstruction type scenes, they do them in ds9 and voy as well I always love them
>>212189092Yeah, people say he's generic but he's a right-out-of-the-academy Ensign, he should be generic.
>>212189068They should have really just had shields by the time of ENT. That enterprise was just terrible. Metallic with goddamn ugly tvs everywhere. I don't care for the jumpsuits either.
>>212189045voyager is intrepid class, the nx01 is 'enterprise' class
>>212189206I only remembered Constitution class because I remembered Picard saying it to Scotty. Not gonna remember that stuff. Sad but true. But thank you it is interesting. Enterprise class is a silly thing to name the enterprise. I would rename it, "Explorer Class"
its the "Dukat tries to be david koresh" episode, ah well I'm sure ill enjoy dukat chewing scenery
>>212189251first "starfleet" vessel here's an interesting factoid the enterprise nc1701 has that number because its the 17th class created by starfleet and the first of its line.
>>212189371That is an interesting factoid.
>>212189068do you know which eric andre episode that img comes from? I've seen it so many times but I've never seen the episode
>>212189251The 1701 had always been "Starship Class" according to her dedication plaque, but somewhere along the line, I think it was Roddenberry, said she actually belongs to the Constitution Class, which was accepted as canon for a long time and then confirmed via dialogue in TNG.
>>212189568its funny how these things come about, for instance did you know the d7 klingon battle cruiser got its designation from an argument between nimoy and shatner on set? its a funny story.
>>212189323And impregnating Bajorans. Mustnโt forget that
>>212189614Or like how everyone always "knew" Sulu's first name was Hikaru but it's never said on screen until TUC in 1991
>>212189704exactly, between tos and tng a lot of things became canon that were never actually said on tos
>>212189774you have 3 right here, constitution class, d7 cruiser, hikaru sulu, think before you post.
>>212189774oh and James "Tiberius" Kirk, Tiberius was because of a novel between tos and tng and it became canon
>>212189251The NX-01 had no class.
>>212189863lol, dumb little frog
>>212190045It's official art from DISCO.
the prophets told me i have to impregnate your wife
>>212190425excuse me, who are you?
>>212190582Oh you mean STD?
>>212190425my wife was born a man
>>212190959That's OK, Federation technology is very advanced these days. And if they can't do it, the Ferengi black market can.
>>212190710riker should have been run out of the service for letting her take it again and again and again
I don't think the Equinox did anything wrong, and honestly it was unrealistic that Janeway's own crew didn't feed her to the warp core when she turned on them. They're just trying to get home, same as anyone, and unlike Janeway they didn't get to decide to just stay there for no reason. Janeway should have been on really thin ice with her own crew, and in the first season she was, even Tuvok disobeys her retard orders in Prime Factors because everyone but her is trying to get home. Anyone on the bridge, even Paris, would have been a better CO than Janeway.

remember when barclay got super smart and modified the enterprise so it could travel 30,000 light years in a matter of hours?
why didnt they take any notes?
>>212192807>remember when barclay got super smart and modified the enterprise so it could travel 30,000 light years in a matter of hours?I was trying to forget about it, but yeah.
>>212191771The Federation isn't as well-run as the main characters would have us believe. There's a lot of bureaucratic dysfunction under the shiny facade.
>>212192127They don't let her eat on duty anymore.
>>212192328Through a combination of a rogue Genesis Device, and my own Katra, I live again. Why did you think I wanted my, and my wife's, ashes shot into deep space? I have returned to do what I would have done in this period of my life, and in this era...seethe on social media.
>>212192262They didn't know it at the time. Afterwards they were being attacked, and they eliminated the attacker in a way that also might get them home, which is no worse than Janeway vaporizing someone with a phaser.
>>212193357its worse its much worse, on the other hand janeway forced them to help her take down ransom so in the end janeway is worst, someone should've given her some coffee.
>>212192807>>212192926Funny how they never brought that up again. Maybe it would have been too disruptive to the overall story line. But I can see Federation insiders using Sitherian technology to strike back at their foes, then letting the power go to their heads, and abusing it.
That shit is just too gay and retarded to be believed, it's like an exaggerated caricature of an idiot's Trek show
>>212192127I don't know what this is.

>>212191771>letting her take it again and again and againThat's policy, not Riker. And it makes sense within the context of what they're doing. What doesn't make sense is doing it on a holodeck where everyone knows nothing really matters, it's like assuming I would order someone to their death because I killed someone in a video game.
>i watch it for the science
>>212193438its mostly because its world breaking but still i dont like that they dont offer explanations to close the holes. like how voyager dismissed the space folder by saying it can only work around that planet and its incompatible with starfleet tech anyway.
>>212193622Oh no, faggots agree with me?! I withdraw my previous accusations.
>>212193864Cytherian technology wasn't even explored in the extended universe...
https://memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Cytherian
Seems like such a waste.
I love DS9, but I dislike the portrayal of giant 1,000 ship fleets bashing into each other, and miss the older days where fleets were small enough that losing 40 ships was a huge deal, and the defense plan for a given sector was "send in the Enterprise"
>>212194263its a reasonable escalation, you can't have a galactic war without thousands of ships, that would be lame and stupid, they hammered home the cost of it over and over so it wasn't like some kid smashing spaceships against each other. I et what you mean each vessel is important but when you are waging war on this scale if you don't have massive fleets it doesn't work.
>>212194452t. knows everything about interstellar invasion tactics
>>212194645I dont zap presidents for no reason thank you very much
>>212195180>retard President with ridiculous hair starts a war
>>212195180The President had that coming. I only feel sorry for Jack Black's character.
>>212193660And it makes even less sense for Deanna specifically, since the holodeck isn't simulating the fear and anxiety she'd be sensing from actual people in a real life or death situation
>>212172783 (OP)What else was she ever in?

Kill all nu-Trek faggots.
The gays in discovery really brought the show down (more), but I was also hoping that T'Pol and Hoshi would make out at some point. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things is my point.

>>212199864Yes, she has a full bush. That's shown in other parts of the movie. That clip is literally all the footage of her from that movie that can be posted to a blue board like /tv/.
In this clip, Troi is sent into the past after all of Picard's favorite whores blink out of existence. She's there to collect intel on someone suspected of being a serial killer of prostitutes, whose actions somehow resonate into the future.
this brings up an important question, can you smell the holodeck, or is it just pictures only? you can touch it, but I assume everything just feels like a force field, and I'm not sure how it would simulate smells or tastes
>>212199827I think they're the alien equivalent of Mexican jumping beans. Or maybe some midgets are suffocating under her immense boobage and trying to free themselves.
>>212200134imagine kissing a hologram and she tastes like... tasteless blocks of plastic
>>212200134I certainly hope they can't smell it during naked playtime.
>>212200134the holodeck uses a combination of hologram and replicator tech to simulate enviroments. can be as real or fake as you want
>>212200389that only works for picking up an apple and eating it and getting a replicated pseudo apple, we can see that the holodeck isn't replicating and animating a skin sheathe for everyone you interact with, so barclay was basically fucking blowup dolls
ah yes, the science fiction cinematographate
>>212200541vaginas can be replicated. its only rare stuff like latinum and dilithium that cant be replicated
What is the Holiday Special of Star Trek?
>>212200976closest we got is generations
>>212201115Generations is almost worse
>>212200967But we can see that isn't happening.
>>212201324we most certainly do not see what holodeck sex is like but it seems like something almost everyone does so it must be better than mere photons and forcefields
>>212201654I mean we can see they turn the holodeck off and all the replicated meat doesn't flop over. Having some ability to reclaim living tissue is beyond the scope of replicators we see, and would be such an obvious risk. It's just an extreme stretch, the only reference to replicators we see in the holodeck are for things like edible food, they aren't making skinsuits.
>>212201704all the real stuff disappears when it turns off just like when they put the dirty plates in the replicator.
>>212201755No. Dirty plates are inanimate, we never see it consume living tissue, nor would we because it doesn't and can't. There is a visible dissolution time that isn't seen on the holodeck. There is no indication anywhere in any show that the holodeck replicates skin suits, and there's no reasonable extrapolation for it. It's just gay 4chanism.
>>212201859Living tissue or not, can it replicate the feeling of living tissue? I don't see why not even if it's not real. Feeling and sustenance are two different things.
