why does it mog everything that came after it?

fyi, don't watch any version other than the 2010 US blu ray. the other transfers completely destroy the color grading

What's your argument between the two? 4K release looks crisp and clean. But the original is classic and has soul.

I can see it from both sides. What say you?

they used AI tools and DNR to wipe the grain which led to loss of detail. You can clearly see the matte bleeding into the film and it looks terrible (the matte monsters on the left) which are blended in the original grading

The first movie gets about 40% thought the book, to the point where Atreyu is sidelined so that Sebastian can become the main protag. I can kinda appreciate why they stopped there.

To be fair, the second half of the book is messed up. They have Bastion make a bunch of wishes and lose his memory. And the child like empress is entirely aware this will happen but totally indifferent about it. In the books she is presented as being totally alien and doesn't have the same values and morality as a normal person would. Hell she even gets Bastion trapped in a time loop where he is forced to read the book over and over again until he gives her a name and at one point in the book you are introduced to an entire village full of lobotomized kids who were all put in the same situation as Bastian until they wished away all of their memories.

The book is kind of fucked up.

That's horrendous. Causes me to ponder; they want to lead ppl, ignorant normies, to believe these old cherished movies had cheap, terrible visual effects. For this is one front of their overall scam; their lie to society that "the past sucked, nothin was better in the past, it couldn't have been!" Truly, one of aids-communism's most insidious narratives, which still beleaguers so many and is analogous to parasites of the mind and spirit. These are parasitic thought-forms, made real. They want to feed The Nothing, no joke. There are no coincidences. They hate the story and the meaning, even the white children at the center of the story, so they find ways to more sneakily disfigure it.

Well there's always someone who could do it, classic ways rejuvenated, but it's become law to these studios that the old tried n true ways and traditions, or traditions of morality even, must be discarded and left in the past for all time.... despite the fact their new methods are worse, in effect. It's more gaslighting. Ppl are gaslit about everything.

Watching this as a child, the killing of Gmork the wolf, and the incident of the Nameless Knight at the Sphinx Gate, stuck with me as a troubling memories throughout my life.
But oddly, the death of Artax is something I didn't even remember happening until I saw it again. I would have thought little me would be in tears over that. Maybe the violence of one versus the relative "subtlety" of the other mattered.

(I also did not notice the sphinx boobies.)

>Stronach, who spent her early years in Iran, beat out Poltergeist actress Heather O'Rourke of the Childlike Empress, monarch of the fictional world of Fantasia (or Fantastica in the book), in the movie. Though she appeared on-screen for just minutes in the role, with her character described as "an indescribably beautiful young girl," adult men tracked down her address (in pre-internet times) and camped outside her family’s Northern California home hoping to get a glimpse of her after the film came out.
>Then came the marriage proposals, including one from a German man who mailed her an expensive engagement ring, and the inappropriate offers from producers, some who would show up at her door.
