Here's another "comedy" I rarely see /tv/ talk about. It's very "WEBM"-friendly but I don't see many clips from it either and youtube is surprisingly empty on scenes for the film. I find the concept of making a half-assed biopic with minimal research intriguing and it would be interesting seeing who else through history could get a similar "treatment".

A videogame inflected dystopian French film about a gang of reformed orphan killers and their maternal leader Jessica. Has a strange airless quality that reminds me of Bonello's The Beast and Twin Peaks: The Return.

It is worthy a rewatch then, nice to hear. I found it even better on a rewatch, you get to appreciate the writing more, the biographical meta-touches, the accurate lyrics of the songs (the soundtrack is a goat). The first episode was somewhat of a slog on the first watch given it was a big setup for the eventual story.

Could that be the TV movie? I saw this as a kid and it scared me. The real life kid's younger brother bizarely grew up to be a serial killer.
The plot you describe sounds like the Texas Candyman guy. The only time I have seen footage of his teenage accomplice was in that 80's Schraeder kino, The Killing Of America.

>Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.
i looked this up and read the plot, and noticed the wiki for some reason has the last paragraph mention spanking, how todd haynes worked spanking into his films? it says "into the film, through a repeated segment featuring a black-and-white overhead view of someone administering an over-the-knee spanking to the bare-bottomed adult Barbie Karen. The meaning of this segment is never discussed"
and that immediately made me think of the max headroom incident, where, at some point, the max headroom mask wearing guy bends over, bares his ass and maybe a woman hits his ass with a fly swatter and yells "hit me bitch!" or something.

and uh, the karen superstar movie was release in 1987, the max headroom signal highjacking incident was in 1987, the stations hijacked were about 800 miles away from were todd haynes was according to his wikipedia page...
>Todd Haynes
>His films span four decades with themes examining the personalities of well-known musicians, dysfunctional and dystopian societies, and blurred gender roles.

nah thats a big ass drive, he wasnt that old, and he doesnt have any established history with fucking around radio/signal shit. i think. still, weird coincidences

The Unspeakable Act, a tender drama about a maladjusted young woman who wants to sleep with her brother.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qd9kfkfe7M

Starring Tallie Medel from Cocoon Central Dance Team. Anyone remember them? They did funny dances to pop songs and occasionally they would show up in indie films in the 2010s. Sunita Mani is the most successful one.
